What this shows is that the two Remainer cities have international teams managed by foreign managers and that we are a part of Europe - a part of the world - and we can best change it by being in it and correcting from within. Sports, like music, tells the truth.

Yes - and Liverpool particularly have a huge international fanbase, estimated at 700 million.

With about 30 million fans on Facebook and Twitter.

Some will never see Anfield, and are content to watch games on a variety of different devices.

The lure of the English Premier League is extraordinary; the games are shown live, in virtually every country on earth.

Consequently, the money generated attracts both foreign owners and players.

Figures in the region of £2 billion would have to be paid to buy some of the top six EPL clubs, like those in Manchester.
