I flew on that beautiful plane 256 times.
When they killed it off I felt civilisation was dying.

The concorde was way ahead of it's time and a great feat of engineering. However it was half-french and far too eco-unfriendly for todays world.

Wow, that's a sharp analysis. It might have something to do with the fact that it was also 40 years old and built for another era. The mystery is why supersonic transport was not developed further once Concorde was in the air.

As for it's being half-French, maybe if it was fully French it would still be flying. Britain hardly has a stellar reputation when it comes to keeping transport in the air or on tracks, does it? Compare France's TGV trains with Britain's intercity network. Pretty dismal, n'est-ce pas?

in the pirs morgon book 18 Years, 1 Month ago
he quotes the chairman of BA as saying '40 of our best customers died in the towers and all our re-book customers decided it was too high profile a target' , he went on to say Branson could not afford the spare parts, nor could BA as they were all tailor made.

worth reading as an insight into tabloid mentality
