Oops! Media loving it. 4 Years, 3 Months ago
Woman retracts false allegations after solid proof of her accused is shown to her; admits lying; now Tworons (Twitter Morons) support her saying we should believe her FIRST lies (better story). Sadly for her (though not for the falsely accused) a Judge found her Guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice. Which raises the suspicion - should the 58,000 false accusers (last year) be prosecuted in the UK? And should the 2000 successful prosecutions be re-examined for their safety? Are the False Accusers "vanishingly rare" as Peter Saunders, ex NAPAC constantly said? Or are they the majority?

I must admit even when Ayia Napa was "the place to go" it and others (Ibiza) were my idea of hell; going to places full of drunk teenagers vomiting all over the place and listening to deafening loud music without melodies? Not for me. Taking loads of drugs to enhance the alcohol effects? Not for me either. Having unprotected consensual sex with strangers (who may well be carrying unpleasant diseases)? No thank you. But if this woman, like many others, chose that lifestyle - it was her decision. But she should not, like so many in the UK, make false allegations of rape; ruining lives. OK - at least she retracted and admitted they were lies (in revenge for being filmed, according to the Judge). Stupid girl; stupid behaviour. Lessons learned.

Common sense

Re:Oops! Media loving it. 4 Years, 3 Months ago
Hi JK. Where is your condemnation of the police in this case???

Why are you assuming she is guilty? If you look at the bigger picture it appears she was forced by the police into retracting her statement.

All I read on this site from you and your group of cronies is how everyone accused of a crime, particularly a sexual crime has in some way been stitched up by the police and is the victim of some sort of miscarriage of justice.

You've soon changed your tune with regards to this girl have'nt you???

The police and all of the prosecuting authorities have done a great job have'nt they as this suits your agenda.

Mr King you are fooling nobody, trying to hide behind the falsely accused and portraying yourself as a victim of the false allegations industry as you call it.

You are a disgrace to the human race.

In this case it appears the False Accuser retracted all her false rape claims and so has been prosecuted and convicted of attempting to pervert the course of justice; a crime which should be being prosecuted more often in the UK (58,000 proven false claims of rape this year alone).

After reading those twitter comments it proves just how right Chris Morris was with his final Brass Eye.

Your observations and conclusions in this case are based on nothing but your prejudices and assumptions. That’s your right but its pure hypocrisy if you then apply a different standard to anyone who takes an opposite view.

OK so let's examine the timeline. Judge Michalis Papathanasiou was very clear throughout the trial he was not examining the rape claims, as the case was whether her later admission was correct, in which case she had lied about the rapes. He said he believed the woman had made false allegations because she felt "embarrassed" after realising she'd been filmed having sex in a video found on some of the Israelis' phones.

Timeline. Woman has sex with several boys; no problems. Then later discovers her behaviour was filmed. Especially when one act was with an under age child.

Could that be why she suddenly decided to make false claims? In order to protect herself if charged with paedophilia? If police discovered this during their examination, they might have persuaded her she would be wiser retracting her false claims than have the truth come out in court. No wonder she alleged rape in the first place.

And could that be why the Judge has so clearly avoided any examination of the circumstances? Otherwise she would possibly be charged with the far more serious offence. Same accusation; different victim; different perpetrator?

We may soon find out.

There are many possible theories and hypotheses about what might have happened on the night in question. The legal system may have worked perfectly or it might be flawed.

Just like your selective use of statistics you are being very selective in making the following claim
Teenager has ''holiday romance''. Thinks it's love. Boy suggests an orgy. May have taken drugs or drink; she agrees. 'Then realises it's not real love. Screams rape. Gets sober. Retracts false claims. Is now in jail. Lesson learned.

Yes that is one possibility but there are many others. The irony is that if your guess is wrong you've just made a false allegation

Ah but I haven't made an allegation about anyone; just suggested an alternative scenario. Which now appears to be incorrect as it has emerged she only made the initial rape claims after she discovered she'd been filmed having sex with an underage child, which puts a different possibility forward.

You put forward a scenario which accused the girl of lying. It maybe true but it may be wrong. You are on very thin ice if you believe your words didn't contain a (albeit veiled) accusation

Well it certainly wasn't intended as an allegation; just a suggestion. At the time, totally uninformed apart from media coverage and the Judicial decision, I felt it was a possible scenario. Now, being slightly better informed that she only made the original allegation after she discovered she'd been filmed so there was evidence of possible under age sex abuse by her, I would suggest a slightly different possible scenario. But still not an allegation. That would be for others to decide after examining evidence I do not have.

No one comes out of the incident with much credit.

It would have been better if the Cyprus police had done enough investigation to get an overview of events, rather than charging in and arresting first. Perhaps they then could have dealt with it informally, which might have been a better solution.

Thats the problem, you were uninformed yet jumped to conclusions. Just like Boris Johnson, Donald Trump and others it now seems acceptable to have double standards and interpret/stretch the facts one way to make a point supporting self interest and at the same time ridicule others who stretch similar facts in the opposite direction.

Nope; no jumping to conclusions; just suggesting a couple of alternative possibilities. If you ask me what happened - I have no idea. I wasn't there. But many things may have happened and I've put forward a couple of possibles.

Lots of assumptions/allegations/possibilities are contained in that statement you made.
