Why?
Is his relationship with Symonds going stale?

How many will say " No thanks. I'm married and I don't want any children from you."

Maybe he wants to promote more women to reflect the distribution of talent and gender in society.

Just a suggestion..sans "conspiracy" I acknowledge....sigh....

Yes I think it is exactly that he thinks the media and PC is correct; that to promote women due to gender not talent appears to reflect wisdom and balance whereas in fact it is a contrived way of obeying headline slogans. Ability or talent is NOT equally distributed amongst people with different coloured eyes and it is a dreadful mistake to assume it is. In some areas, at some time, the majority will be blue eyed. Sometimes they will be brown eyed or black eyed. They may even be blind. Times change, abilities vary. That's why I hate the absurd Oscars, Brits, Grammys PC demands. And why the stupid current BBC madness of booking females over males has made much radio unlistenable to.

I agree that the motive should always be about ability not gender. When things are so imbalanced to one gender though, we should't assume the motive behind redressing the situation...

I don't think things ARE unbalanced beyond natural selection; example; many more females give birth than males. There is a very good natural reason for this. Most other areas have differing levels. Watching Weather Forecasts for example - a field requiring very little talent of any kind, to my mind - I see these days women are vastly dominant. Whereas the pitch of their voices makes hearing them difficult for us older (deaf) people. Disabled people seem to pop up here as the job requires so little talent it's the perfect repository for those without arms or legs thus fulfilling Politically Correct quotas. Which I think is insulting to the disabled. The guy in a wheelchair doing travel reports, on the other hand, is rather good (although the problems in transport must be expensive). But he deserves his slot because he's actually good at it (like Frank Gardner). It does nobody any favours scheduling due to political correctness. Zoe Ball is almost unlistenable to; like a demented chicken on Radio Two each morning. Personally I found Chris Evans just as bad where Terry Wogan was excellent.

PC bull has gone ballistic.
You can't uniform everything just to weigh up the numbers.

It's like bent bananas ffs. Didn't they say they aren't good for selling?

Why?

Were there Monkeys in zoos rebelling by shouting "What the fuck is this shit?"

Cavil, that is what they are.

Of the 13 weather presenters listed on the BBC site, 8 are men. Most of the 13 have a university degree in a scientific field and most seem to have worked for the Met Office. I imagine that their work behind the scenes will involve more than gesturing towards a map on TV.

The BBC weather presenter with one arm is apparently called Lucy Martin and she also has a relevant degree, in geography with a meteorology component.

Have to say that I find your constant disparaging comments about women quite offensive. This latest one about a disabled woman is a new low. Don't you realise that some of the visitors to your site are female? Some of those who sympathise with the fate of those who have been victims of false accusations are female too. Some might even be disabled.

I find it odd that you read my comments as disparaging JO. And that is precisely my point. The woman you refer to has every right to be there but I suspect she's (wrongly) got the job to seem to be filling a PC obligation. I could be wrong. She is perfectly adequate doing an incredibly easy job. Sylvia Syms on the Talking Movies films is, I think, one of the best commentators anywhere on TV or radio. Lynn Barber is, I think, the best interviewer in the press; better than any other male.

I see your point. Disabled people in employment are nothing new. Disabled people worked years ago, there was not so much sympathy around and they just got on with it. I have worked with several and had some bloody good laughs with them too.
Not everyone wants to stay unemployed. They should still have the option to do so if they are debilitated enough.

Some people I cannot sympathize with as they claim they have a mental illness but they are nasty to people.
The same with out-of-control kids. Some just crave attention whether good or bad. Making excuses for them is not sensible.

My son has life-threatening issues (runs in family) and I have never once claimed for him. Same with others in my family.

If someone's mental illness causes them to be paranoid, angry, or frightened, and this is shown by being nasty, then they deserve sympathy and understanding just the same.

Bookworm, apologies in advance if I am taking your post in the wrong way, but if it is an oblique way of saying that you consider me nasty to say that I found JK's comments about women and a disabled woman disparaging, so be it. That is simply a statement of how I feel about his frequent posts along these lines and not intended to be nasty to anyone. My only reason for describing my mental health status in another post, laying it bare, which I have only ever done once on this board before, as "Anon"/"Anonymous", and never anywhere else, was to sympathise with you. Assuming that I have interpreted your post correctly, I am now regretting going against the principle that I have held to until now never to disclose that kind of thing ever, even anonymously on discussion boards.

I think you are indeed misunderstanding Bookworm's post Jo. I certainly did not take your comment as nasty and appreciate you feeling you can reveal personal information on this site. In my experience 99% of posters on here a decent, kind, intelligent people. We lost the trolls and the stupids early on. I'm sure my constant moans about women may appear mysogenistic but I assure you they are not; I'm just as biased against men. Indeed I've not (yet) suffered any false allegations by women (and I've been bisexual all my life). In my experience male false accusers are far more frequent and vile. Mind you several have been egged on (oops - "assisted") by women police officers. Do watch GUILTY to see the witches in action. www.GuiltyMovie.com

Jo,
I would never be nasty to you. I have no reason to. x
Please take my word for that.

You did write your personal circumstances and in a way it proves a point of how minds can be dangerously impressioned.
This is why the media need to be largely ignored and dangerous gang mentalities held accountable.

I have bigger fish to fry and that is the whole point of my dedication to what I do.

Enjoy your weekend and don't worry about idiots.
