A hundred years ago, Spanish 'flu was much worse. The level of deaths has never been quantified; but it's thought to run into the millions.
Both were caused by the same virus - H1N1. So far, the Coranavirus hasn't been identified, making the creation of potent vaccines virtually impossible.
