TOPIC: Piers bloody Morgan
#199173

Piers bloody Morgan 3 Years, 10 Months ago
I accidentally saw him this morning talking about the McCann suspect, and how all the horrible people who thought the McCanns were guilty of killing their daughter were wrong and awful.

I fully agree that its been uncalled for and nasty (though nobody should be ruled out, obviously) until we have proof, but Piers Morgan, Clarence Mitchell, and others, are doing exactly the same thing to the suspect, who has not been convicted of anything.

The problem is he's so hard to ignore completely. Everyday when I have a quick glance online at the tabloids, they're full of stories about him! This is the curious thing about him as an ex-journalist - the news presenter is not supposed to be the news, but his ego (along with ITV's pathetic PR deal with certain papers) has turned him into this bizarre phenomenon. His hysterical scaremongering behaviour during lockdown has been nothing short of disgraceful, but in this moronic culture he'll probably end up with a reward for it.

Morgan successfully follows the shock-jock modus operandi - which has stood him well for decades, in a variety of media roles.

As a Fleet Street editor and TV presenter/journalist, here and in the USA - where he replaced Larry King on CNN.

Still in his early 50s (NotW editor at 29) - this annoying, but savvy professional, will outstay most contemporaries and competitors.

By adhering to a tried and tested formula, of courting controversy - challenging everyone (as a matter of course), and manoeuvring himself into the news headlines.

He's such a bighead and blowhard. Shouting people down on This Morning Britain. The guests hardly get a word in edgewise. He never fails to mention that he used to edit the Mirror. He wasn't a patch on Larry King and didn't last in that job for long.

The most annoying thing is that he appears to be pleasant, intelligent, competent, and often makes good points which deserve to be heard, but we hear nothing, because it is all lost in the yelling.

Morgan's tactic is purely to provoke a reaction, as Barney implicated. I never watch him, but occasionally see snippets on the internet, such as when he tried the Greggs Vegan Sausage roll. It was obvious that he had pre-decided that he was going to spit out the Vegan Sausage roll just to curry favour with all those machismo meat eating, anti pc, pro-drinking, pro-smoking idiots that might watch him. Vegan sausage rolls taste almost identical to the regular sausage rolls (i.e. very nice), and there would be no cause for such a reaction. There is very little if any flavour in pork on its own, the flavouring is in the seasoning which would be the same for both. He knows that people watch him thinking "What a prick", but they still watch him. I think that viewing figures for GMB are much lower that BBC Breakfast.

Larry King is another one, who loves fake news, he now appears on RT which sums him up.

Remember when Morgan, worked for the Mirror and reported fake images of soldiers beating up people ?

Someone should compare his childish campaign to get Arsene Wenger sacked from Arsenal with his current covid scaremongering. There's no difference in tone or method - it's just remorseless ranting. And anyone who adopts such a foghorned and dogmatic anti-government position during a crisis like this simply doesn't have the capacity to think calmly and rationally about political systems and situations. He's a childish role model for a childish population.
