Morgan successfully follows the shock-jock modus operandi - which has stood him well for decades, in a variety of media roles.
As a Fleet Street editor and TV presenter/journalist, here and in the USA - where he replaced Larry King on CNN.
Still in his early 50s (NotW editor at 29) - this annoying, but savvy professional, will outstay most contemporaries and competitors.
By adhering to a tried and tested formula, of courting controversy - challenging everyone (as a matter of course), and manoeuvring himself into the news headlines.

Morgan's tactic is purely to provoke a reaction, as Barney implicated. I never watch him, but occasionally see snippets on the internet, such as when he tried the Greggs Vegan Sausage roll. It was obvious that he had pre-decided that he was going to spit out the Vegan Sausage roll just to curry favour with all those machismo meat eating, anti pc, pro-drinking, pro-smoking idiots that might watch him. Vegan sausage rolls taste almost identical to the regular sausage rolls (i.e. very nice), and there would be no cause for such a reaction. There is very little if any flavour in pork on its own, the flavouring is in the seasoning which would be the same for both. He knows that people watch him thinking "What a prick", but they still watch him. I think that viewing figures for GMB are much lower that BBC Breakfast.
