TOPIC: I cannot stress more strongly
#200471
I cannot stress more strongly 3 Years, 8 Months ago
this quote from The Lancet via the Washington Times (surely two reliable sources) illustrates exactly my position; see the Covid thread; Media grossly inflated the Wuhan position; global governments instantly obeyed that (Stop The Spread) and the extreme measures have caused incredible distress, misery and deaths.
A more measured, sensible approach, concentrating on protecting & treating the vulnerable, would have saved thousands of lives and millions of wasted cash (building stupid Nightingales instead of giving every care home 2 or 3 ventilators).

Outbreaks in hospitals, retirement homes and other restricted environments may play a relatively larger role in the spread of the infection, and be less susceptible to the beneficial effects of the lockdown.

It's well known that hospital stays - though necessary - increase the risk of infection. My friend was in with a back problem recently, and picked up sepsis.

In the US, about 20% of discharged patients return to hospital - within a month. Here it's just 8%; but in the region of 1 million individuals a year.

Not surprising - considering that patients are sleep deprived, malnourished, stressed out, confused by changing personnel and constantly anxious.

all theories completely unproven even with the Lancet.

could well be spot on but I don't believe so.

I think the entire Covid matter is an example of how rapidly the human race is getting completely snowed under with "fake news" but it's the Trumps of the world who are spreading that false news and it's a real worry. (Only 4 months to see if the rot has really set in for the USA but who knows.)

In early pandemics people just hunkered down and did what the authorities and medical profession advised. Doesn't mean they were right at the time but they are certainly more concentrated on working out what's best than the public.

Sars, bird flu, Spanish Flu (100 million deaths) AIDs, Asian Flu and just recently Ebola (only 12,000 deaths) and most lasted years not months.

Covid is unique in that a significant number of people and those in power have now soaked up conspiracy or question how it's being handled and yet, no-one has any idea if what they preach is correct. Didn't happen before.

Nothing wrong with questioning authority or disagreeing with it but, when you have no alternative solution and just a notion it's not very convincing.

All based on their own feelings
(# I know sod all)

This may be the plague that takes out humanity completely. Nothing special about us and too many crammed on the planet..India now with a fifth of the popualtion having Covid..doesn't bear thinking about.

The Lancet publishes many sides as it's current lead article demonstrates which would seem to be the complete opposite view to the one quoted via The Washington Times.:
www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31637-8/fulltext

China has largely controlled COVID-19. A country of 1ยท4 billion people and a size similar to Europe or the USA now reports only clusters of cases rather than widespread community transmission. China has been widely criticised for its role and responsibilities during the pandemic because of censorship, transparency, and human rights concerns. But the rest of the world can still learn from China's successes in bringing its outbreak under control.

And the Washington Times a "reliable source"? You must be joking. It's a laughing stock in the USA and is owned by the Fascist Cult leader Sun Myung Moo that always pushes his extreme right wing views.

God give me strength.

talk about falling for the media's "good stories"

Hedda it's not Covid19 killing many but the panicdemic. Flu, Cancer, heart attacks, Sepsis kill many more but don't have the media inflation.

still on about all the other ways to die as though it minimizes Covid. It's most odd.

Covid kills people. It's a new way to kill people. A new virus.

Not sure what it's got to do with flu, car accidents or falling off a cliff.

I've seen heaps of people on the web bringing up the flu which is indeed deadly even after medical researchers have had a 100 years

Now we have another deadly virus that has whipped out 100,000s in six months ontop of all other deaths from whatever.

Maybe it'll take 100 years to develop a Covid jab and everyone on the planet might be dead by then. (I will be )

Where're you been hedda - I've been trying to make those points to JK, for weeks?

Nobody on earth has ever seen a virus - like coranovirus - before!

So what - if it's not killing as many, as the old ones...
