TOPIC: Royal Stories and Gossip

Royal Stories and Gossip 3 Years, 9 Months ago
Though not a royal watcher, it was obvious to me - from the body language and staged assignations - that H&M and W&K weren't hitting it off.

New publications seem to confirm this - at least anecdotally. And H&M's relationship with his broader 'dysfunctional' family was also strained.

Bearing in mind, Meghan's different background, career, country of origin etc. - this wouldn't be unusual. But her independent streak didn't help bridge gaps.

Another tabloid page filler for many months - along with Maxwell, Andrew, Trump/Biden, Brexit (End) and closed door events.

It is all very sad and tawdry really. I just wonder what damage it will do to the Royals? I suspect the middle-aged and younger - if not in any way necessarily admiring H&M - will instinctively side with them over the snobbish and elitist Court.

I am friends with someone who lives on Frogmore Estate and is part of the royal staff. Believe me, there are comments from Royals and their Courtiers that to modern ears would have the woke generation descending on Windsor with pitchforks if they got out..

Yes, allegiances will be split - even among the younger supporters of both Harry and William.

And many will come down on different sides regarding the wives. One lady toes the line , and the other didn't.

The Queen and Charles seem to have left many decisions to the dreaded courtiers who, as unattributed sources, seem active!

On the other hand - Anne, Edward etc. simply don't get involved and are content to press the flesh, when asked.

Great stuff for the media - with new stories and events bound to be heard from the newly intercontinental (and extended) Windsor dynasty.

I didn't get any impression of hostility from The Duchess of Cambridge when they were together at the polo match.

What was it that made you think Catherine was unwelcoming?

It is possible that there were cultural misinterpretations from both sides. American eagerness can appear brash, and English reservedness could look disinterested, if you were not used to it.
