TOPIC: The Queen.

The Queen. 3 Years, 4 Months ago
Isn't our Queen incredible? Apart from looking 30 years younger than she is, she really is a moral figure of incredible strength. Watching her today made me realise why I don't flee this ghastly country. At its centre she makes us great.

I don't really see the point of a royal family in the 21st century. France, USA, and Germany manage quite well without them. I don't buy the argument about tourism. The queen is in Balmoral for most of the summer, but visitors to London rise. I've nothing against the Queen. her speech this year was about 3 minutes long, which is about the only time she has spoken in public this year, apart from that short speech in the summer, during coronavirus. She is in good health for her age granted. I imagine that this is partly because she has never had to work long hours in stressful jobs, just going on free luxurious holidays, waving occasionally. The only member of the royal family that I have any vague respect for is Charles, who has raised awareness on environmental issues for nearly 50 years. However he does still go out hunting with his kids, which shows that he is out of touch with the people.

If he wants to go hunting why shouldn't he?
He cant please everyone, even if he was foolish enough to try.

Why shouldn't he, because it is murder of innocent creatures. No worse than the mass production of meat and diary, but still setting a bad example.

Just because you're a vegan and don't mean people have to follow - just let people do their thing and mind your fucking business. I tell you what is murder Robbie that's abortion. Animals are tasty creatures meat freshly hunted is a hundred times tastier than supermarket food. Trophy hunting is completely different to hunting for food.

I guess Robbie is a townie or a city man and drinks soy.

I like having The Royal Family there in the same sort of way as the National Trust, but like Robbie I can't really see a functional point for them now.

I wonder if mine and others loyalty though will be tested sorely by the next generation...

People gasp and say oh but if we became a republic we would have a "President Johnson!" but can never really explain how that would make much of a difference to anything these days....

But my trips to Windsor wouldn't be the same if the family had flown and the magnificent building become an office of local Government working on the latest Covid fines schemes....

Well I didn't say I was a vegan, and I live in a village. As for animals been tasty, I disagree. When was the last time you ate a steak or chicken without any kind of seasoning. Easting a steak without seasoning or sauce would be like eating your shoes. Meat just provides the texture to absorb the flavour of spices and sauces. The same texture can be obtained from tofu, tempeh, or quorn without consuming all the anti biotics and hormones that animals are given to stave of diseases or to make them grow faster. As for milk, the reason why people are lactose intolerant is because humans are not meant to eat cows milk, as we are not baby cows and our bodies do not easily digest milk. The reason why this whole coronaivirus thing started was because of people eating things that they are not naturally supposed to eat, such as live bats in the wet markets of China.

If your meat tastes like leather unless you season it, you are cooking it all wrong.

My point is that no one has meat without seasoning or sauces, because it doesn't have any taste, even if cooked by a michelin starred chef. the first question on masterchef after meat has been cooked is. Has it been seasoned?

Maybe on television, but I assure you that lots of people all over the world eat their pork chops etc unadulterated.

Maybe your taste buds have been frazzled by the MSG in the quorn?

Theres no msg in Quorn. So they don't even have salt on their chops, how bland. Highly unlikely

Usually MSG isn't listed on quorn products, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.
If it says "Flavouring" "Yeast extract" "Carrageenan" "Maltodextrin" etc it might very well contain MSG and far worse.

Far less essential than vape stuff or booze.

I never add seasoning or salt to my food Robbie. Nor do I undercook or overcook my dinners, you must be crap cooking or mum was awful. I have allergies to exotic fruit but not cows milk.

Quorn is flavourless and vegan sausage rolls are bland. I try anything once and I know if I like something or I don’t. I like my steaks done rare and no salt or sauces or spices please. Chicken is my favourite meat and I don’t add any salt etc to it.

I hope have answered your questions p.

If you’re a man and drink soy milk please stop doing it.

Well yes I do drink soya milk in tea (not sure what soy milk is). It is indistinquishable from cows milk and doesn't lead to extreme suffering to cows, forcibly impregnated every year and killed for veal if they are born male. I don't think anyone on here would get very far on masterchef. The first thing they point out is the lack of seasoning. I don't eat much quorn, most of it contains milk or egg. Tofoo and tempeh however are great in stir fries or curries. The vegan burgers in Wetherspoons are amazing, they even have the blood dripping out, if you like that sort of thing. The first time I had a vegan sausage roll from greggs, I immediately went back to get another one.

Why would a vegan want to replicate blood oozing out? Is it just for a laugh?

I drink soya milk. I am astonished that you think it is indistinguishable from cows milk.
I have never met anyone who thinks it is at all similar.

Originally, soy was the processed liquid from soya beans, but the terms have been interchangeable for a long time.

Do you know you can make it at home for pennies, and use the pulp for vege-burgers?

Soya milk is good women not for men.

Why would anyone want to be on Masterchef I met Greg Wallace before he was a celebrity, such a control freak. No wonder he ex’s left him.

Now Robbie going to tell me that PRC are cruel to bulls.

Why would anyone want want to eat at Wetherspoons - I have crossed paths with the CEO numerous times due to my line of work. Such a cold person and he laughs at his customers behind the scenes. The food is crap and beer is always flat, why not spend the little extra and go to a decent place?

Why would you want to eat at Wetherspoons, because it provides good food at low prices. I go often, or at least until covid and also go to other independent pubs. I find that they have a much better range than most independent pubs and don't do any of this pretentious nonsense such as chunky chips stacked in a jenga structure. I think it is better than the comparable food outlets such as GBK, Five Guys, and Byron. The burger at five guys is no better than you could buy at tesco and the prices are about twice those of wetherspoons, Byron and GBK provide very basic burgers at high prices. It is only food snobs that don't like wetherspoons, the kind of people that shop at waitrose, paying higher prices for the same branded goods as they could get at Tesco or Lidl, all because it fits in with their "up themselves" lifestyle. Most lagers taste pretty much the same to me, except those dark beers, or blond beers that are absolutely disgusting. Spoons always provides a good range of local real ales, not to my taste, but very popular with many. This is why it is the largest pub chain in the uk.

Logically the notion of a Royal Family is bizarre but the facts are: they cost multi £millions but bring in £Billions in tourism according to the British Tourist Board.

I've had this argument with Republicans who claim the tourists would come anyway..but I totally disagree.

One even claimed 1000s visit the Palace of Versailles daily so why not Buck House or Windsor Castle?

But all the Royal residences are bloody dreary architecture and dull looking. I reckon people come because real live Royals live in them. Compared to the unbelievable lavishness and sheer beauty of Versailles, the royal houses look like like tarted up huge council houses (perhaps Kensington Palace excepted).

Some of the great country mansions of Britain are real palaces compared to the Royal's dreary bunch. And even then as they are opened to the public it's still touch and go every year that they can pay the bills. Often operating at a loss/

Who goes to look at Clarence House now? Very few people even know it exists. But they did when the Queen Mother lived there. It was a tourist attraction.

Perhaps a scaled down European Toy Town Royal Family may be preferable..like Denmark with lots of glitter but perhaps less cost but I still think a Royal Family brings a certain cache to a country. An indefinable quality thing. As in Thailand where the idea of the Royal Family is the bedrock of society.

They are unique. The alternative is to give over to tacky here today, gone tomorrow Reality TV Stars. And besides, all those ghastly newspapers that attack them would fold.
# I reckon Harry & Meghan's chosen career path is an utter shambles that is bound to end in tears.

## None of this is influenced by the fact on my second day in London as a wide eyed youth and driving through Mayfair at 1am, a Rolls Royce pulled up beside me at a red light and Princess Anne glanced over with a smile (or grimace ?).
I thought this is it..an invitation to Fortnum & Masons for Afternoon Tea with HRH Prince Charles and maybe a celebrity like JK was soon to follow but in reality, I think she was shuddering at the sight of my recently purchased £80 Mini Van with only one front fender (the other fell off only days before after a disagreement with a taxi)
