Brilliant Biden 3 Years, 2 Months ago
Love what he is doing re the environment and climate change, so refreshing:

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/27/...nge-executive-orders

Let's care for and respect other people, other countries and the planet seems to be his strong early signalling.

And why not...?

Re:Brilliant Biden 3 Years, 2 Months ago
I've begun to feel a bit sorry for Donald.

He could have handled his loss so much better and with grace. Instead of pushing the "fraud" catastrophe Trump could have charmed everyone by accepting he had lost (after all he got a bloody good vote) and said he'd work with Biden etc etc and so on.

He would easily have been then in an ideal situation for 2024 or one of his kids would be. Or whoever he endorsed.

But once the aura of power has slipped away..and this is the real problem for Trump..he exercised so much power and gave the (false) impression he was the Most Powerful Man in The World (when there are really 2- Vlad Putin & Xi Jinping both for life & unassailable) his card trick is suddenly exposed.

He now looks like a former leader who just plays golf. He's of as much interest as George Bush Jnr.

He could have probably avoided all the legal complications he may spend years being caught up in.

The Republicans must be frantically working on how to stick a stake through his heart and banish his memory. But in 4 years, Trump will be a distant memory. Everyone moves on. He's really their Julius Cesar who lasted about as long.

I believe the Deplorables and nuttier Trump fanatics who are claiming Donald is biding his time in a WO bunker with 250,000 troops (no-one has noticed ...not even the smell !) until March 4th when he will be anointed, are a minimal bunch. The vast majority will be rusted on Repub voters.

Just as those funding the Tea Party withdrew funding once it had done it's job and is now a distant memory.

#Anyone who has dealt with a true sociopath will recognize the pattern. I've dealt with one closely around 12 years ago and watched another at work.
They burn everything in their wake and leave a trail of destruction & destroyed people (friends etc) behind them but in the end, they become a victim of their own actions.

ps: I hated Jon Ronson's book on psychopaths and thought it did a lot of damage by not demonstrating that sociopath/psychopathic people come in and out of lives all the time without affecting us much and can be the garbage man or a president.

## Note how all Trump's ex-employees are having such trouble getting new jobs. This is unusual for an ex-presidential aide when it should open doors everywhere but coincided with my discussions with 4 of his Miss Universe employees in Oz 14 years ago. While they all said (after plying them with drinks) they hated the man they also said they thought working for him would be a great advantage in getting a new job but found they were shunned by prospective employers.

### And another thing: why did Fred & Mary Ann Trump name their child after a famous Hollywood Duck? Were they ending us a message even then?. Hint: McDuck and McLeod (his mum) both Scottish names.
Were they hinting about Satanic Pedo Hollyweird even then?
And is the Moon really a metal Satellite filled with old Nazis?

Ok I'll get my coat..I know where the Exit is thank you.

Much though we love your views Hedda (and support when it matters); I think Trump's magic came from the fact that he represented the Anti politics and - even more - the Anti media. Now I'm still no Trump fan but, as you know, admire him for that. I agree, he should have appeared gracious eventually (about the day before leaving). But if he wants it he can now still be the leader of the "opposition", far more than the next Republican. And, in 4 years time, when everyone has forgotten silly Covid yet is suffering the inevitable economic downturn ("it's the economy, stupid") a majority will be pro ANYBODY who is anti the establishment (which has, by then, been shown to be truly stupid). If Trump has any sense remaining (they all go mad eventually; look at Maggie) he'll run as an Independent in 2024 and win by a landslide. By then he'll have found the new Twitter. If not him, a Trump ally and supporter (possibly family - the vile young Baron should be about ready to replace the oldest President with the youngest).

True Green Man and obviously electric cars are manufactured using the same resources.

But the facts are: Beijing Biden ( LOL..what a thigh slapper )must make America catch up to China and India who are quickly outstripping the world with renewable and Solar energy. Obama tried to but was neutered by Congress.

With the great leaps forward with Solar it will outstrip oil and coal very quickly. I reckon the fanaticism re this is simply oil & coal corps wanting to gauge every $$$ they can before they become irrelevant..OR..if they were sensible they would be investing in renewables themselves. And probably are.

## Also annoys me intensely that anti-Greenies etc attack people like Leo Di Caprio or currently John Kerry (as Biden's Climate Change Czar) for traveling by private jet but What The F*ck do they expect them to do? Go by a slow boat to China?

The whole idea of renewables is to replace oil & coal where possible and it is possible in a 100 ways..the auto industry is probably the main one..China is selling over a million electric cars a year and Germany is streaming ahead with solar panels on all new housing.

This is simply propaganda : the notion non-renewables are used to manufacture renewables ignores the fact that non-renewables may last for another few generations if a lot less is used. Quite apart from the climate problems !
************************
Not so sure about the "anti-candidate" JK seeing a huge majority voted for an old reliable 40 year veteran politician, but let's face it, the USA is all over the place at the moment.

After all, there seems to be 100,000s of Yanks, maybe even millions who think Donald Trump is fighting a Hollyweird Satanic Pedo Cult yet, yet Trump is literally a product of Hollywood via a top TV show?

That's just weird.

"we love your views Hedda (and support when it matters)"

talk about back handed compliments

I'm with you on this Hedda. I even love Greta; even though she is annoying - primarily for being so young! We can all sit quibbling and picking off any "hypocrisy" however small. But there is no bigger issue. We are a ravenous, destructive appalling species and need to mend our ways. Covid is part of the same problem. If we weren't so fat and unfit hardly anyone would have died. We need to stop taking more than we need.

"Fat and unfit" is just another excuse to blame the poor buggers who catch the virus and die, rather than the people whose spectacular incompetence brought it here and encouraged it to flourish.

Also, "taking more than we need" of food does not always translate to taking more than we need environmentally. The opposite is very often true.

I'm not trying to be offensive or to "blame" anyone. But there is far more correlation between national obesity (and so all the health problems that follow and make people vulnerable) than there is to lockdowns reducing deaths. We can either collectively and individually face this fact and do something for the future, or ignore it as "un-pc". But it is a fact regardless. A major one.

You could never offend me, Wyot. Yours is one of the last remaining sensible voices. But the media does seem to bleat about it disproportionately, because even if we were all slim, healthy and fit we would still get old, and that is the overriding reason people die of it, according to Chris Whitty.

I get cross when they dismiss the disproportionate "BAME deaths as being because they are often fatter, without understanding the reasons why that might be.

People don't choose to be obese, or poor, or more often than not, both, and some of the discussion about it smacks of "I'm alright, its happening to those OTHER people".

There was a programme on RT recently about obesity. It's both the consumers and manufactures fault - people need to budget tend to look at junk food because it's cheap and lasts, whilst fruits are pricy. It's nearly £3 for a pack of apples yet you can stock up one freezer drawer for £5.

Obesity causes all sorts of illnesses but if you have a virus on top no doubt it would be fatal.

I don't get why anyone would want to talk to Piers Morgan or in fact listen to him.

"How about getting awards shipped and better still if he stopped acting.

fair point on the traveling you wag Green Man (but not the acting..he's pretty good) but really, what do we do?

All stop traveling? We may have to if all limited resources are used up. Bit of a controversy here after the Qantas entire fleet (apart from about 10) was photographed parked in the Mojave Desert along with 100s of other jets.

Now Emirates saying they may cancel lights..hence my $10,000 quote for a return ticket to Bangkok that normally costs $900.

Could be a sign of the future.

# All those luxury ocean liners ( I fantasize about traveling on the Queen Mary 2 from NYC to Southhampton or visa versa..as Bowie did seeing he was frightened of flying)apparently still need a crew of 100 while they sit idle or everything stops working but how long can that go on for?

## personally if the peasantry were prevented from traveling I can't say I'd be unhappy. Not mentioning any names or nationality but the mob who go to the Costa Brava and demand a #Full E**lish Breakfast All Day would be a start
# they could be from anywhere.

( Don't get me wrong..I'm not saying they're "English". But they could be )

I agree with all of the above Honey. I saw Piers Morgan once on his morning TV show by accident and that was more than enough for me.

Re the weight debate yes it has to be done in the right way. It is not about blame but public understanding. The bar for what is a "normal"/healthy weight has been pushed back so far that many people don't even realise they are significantly overweight.

Yes there are complex reasons why people are. There can be complex reasons why people still smoke though; but no one expects the Gov to take responsibility for smokers not dying from cancer.

Let people know what risks they face from this morphing respiratory illness due to their weight and people must take individual responsibility, along with whatever support the tax payer can reasonably be expected to foot. Because outside of age, it appears to be the main factor for death.

We will never be able to close our borders or lockdown our country forever to stop an air borne virus. With the vaccine doing what it can to protect the vulnerable through age, I think the public discussion does need to move on to personal responsibility as well.

Yes unfortunately some idiots won't be able to tell the difference between personal risk through weight and infectiousness; but we can't keep ignoring the issue if we want less people to die next time and avoid further extended lockdowns.

I keep having Piers blasted out on Youtube when I am minding my own business chopping onions.
I listen to videos and then it goes onto something else, very often Piers, although I have done nothing to encourage it.

A few years ago I was plagued in the same way by Stephen Fry. He was intruding on Youtube and his were the only flipping tweets I could see!

At least Stephen Fry is amusing and gorgeous - Piers, the opposite.
