My E-Mail to the writer...
Dear James Hall; highly amused by your piece about It's A Wild World but you really should have spoken to me. I could have corrected many of the errors.
As you know, back in the 1980s newspapers indemnified writers and took full legal responsibility, so it was the SUN that settled out of court - after I bumped into the PSBs on Concorde on their way to the Caribbean and was able to give them the addresses of gay clubs there. When they realised we were all Queens they dropped out.
I never said or thought there was any question of "stealing" or intentional plagiarism.
Subconscious copying perhaps.
So my brilliant version was intended as a satirical and amusing comment to back up my words in Britain's biggest selling daily newspaper (then) for which I wrote a page a week for almost ten years.
The He's So Fine saga - years earlier - was a similar effort at humour; sadly that was not only played in court but mentioned by the Judge in summing up as the main reason for finding against George and in the Chiffons' writers favour.
Only sad because, as a result, George never spoke to me again.
Like you, he took it all far too seriously.
He was not only a friend but, in my opinion, the best Beatle in solo music terms.
And I'm equally certain his was also subconscious plagiarism.
OK I have a strange sense of humour. So what's new?
At least you were able to include a couple of mentions for my wrongful convictions (still being fought in the Courts; I'm hoping to be declared innocent this year).
The comments under your piece are even more lacking in facts and far more idiotic.
I don't know about you but I sometimes despair at the brain dead minority and wonder if they are a larger chunk of humanity than I at first thought.
Love the "he didn't discover Genesis" comment. I not only produced them but gave them the name.
I wonder whether Neil and Chris can ever claim to have sold 40 million records as singers, as I did?
Admittedly, mine were under a variety of names (including, at one point, The Bay City Rollers).
As we said in another of my successes (The Rocky Horror Show), "It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache".
All the best,
JK

I agree I am more of a lurker rather than contributor. I worked for over 20 years in the music industry including half of that time in the USA. I first became aware of JK’s website as a result of posts on Velvetrope at the end of the 90’s but Velvetrope has long gone as is my employment from the record industry. The contributions I’ve been making recently are to call out gross misleading statistics and/or wrong facts. As lots of the contributors on here are constantly claiming they are searching for the truth that doesn’t seem and unreasonable thing to do.
I used to join in debates but they stopped on this website some time ago as the website has become more and more of an Echo chamber. Previously Barneright y was told to go because he dared step out of line and it seems it may be my time for me to look for the exit and allow all the back slapping and mutual appreciation to continue without any dissenting voices.
My impression - rightly or wrongly - is that "BB" doesn't really get into debates with posters on here but seems to want to engage with mainly JK - by having a pop. Maybe you would enjoy the site more if you engaged more widely?
I don't agree that "Barney" was asked to leave because of a difference of opinion, I think it was because he just kept regurgitating media headlines and presenting them as arguments under multiple names.
Besides, he or she is still here and posting so this site is hardly being policed like North Korea

This forum has essentially become a private conversation between five people, with Barney/his latest new name as the whipping boy. JK seems to think that lots of people are visiting the forum, but I suspect that most of the apparent visitors are bots. It's so easy to post that if there were lots of real visitors, there would surely be more than six people posting. Several former posters seem to be missing in action, e.g. Randall, Little Sausage, Pru, Silent Minority, M, MWTW, andrew, Amanda and probably more whose names I can't recall. Perhaps they too feel that the forum has become such a closed shop dominated by one subject, with dissenters disparaged, that there's little point in posting. But I doubt it matters much, as it's pretty clear from the home page whose posts matter the most.

Great post Jo. I would make one correction, there are a variety of subjects discussed on the forum but no variety of opinion.
I think you’ll find some of those former posters you mentioned are just aliases used by some of the regular contributors for variety purposes. It’s hard to believe that “Little Sausage” and his detailed sycophantic music posts could possibly exist in isolation.

# Can't see the similarity in those 2 songs JK but I've got a tin ear.
## amazing how these hacks call people "the disgraced" (according to who?) but surely in your case you deserve the "recently vindicated & not guilty JK"

I remember the days Hedda, as a young debutant to the site They were legendary. How did that all end - did he just disappear or was there a decisive spat?
