Verbal slip 3 Years, 1 Month ago
Boris in PMQs a few minutes ago:"...our roadmap out of lockdown which we hope is irreversible...."

Since when did irreversible mean potentially reversible?

Since a third wave - of an infectious virus - may well be on the horizon...

If that is the reason - with all vulnerable groups now vaccinated - then prepare to be in lockdown forever. Infectious viruses mutate. They always have done. They also kill a number of people every year. They always have done.

Another revealing quote when pushed about whether vaccine passports for pints is compatible with a free society:

"As PM the public expect me to do everything I can to protect them..."

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-56517486

Well there it is. Lockdown forever, continue to let millions lose their jobs & their mental health, thousands can die from cancer and the introduction of a Police state. For starters.

There is no reset or plan. There is just a traumatised man in Downing St who's whole life has been about Covid for a year, who almost lost his life to Covid and has come to believe that everything is about this one virus and the people are willing him on against the forces of liberty to do anything in his name.

We urgently need a neutral non-political body to take over the country temporarily to deal with this situation in a balanced way with no eye on the ballot box.

Absolutely correct - there's no need whatsoever to consult the people who live here...

Some of us are not too fond of too many referendums Barney; one or two (elections) are OK; doing it for everything is a serious mistake; 99% of voters have no information or ability to consider. Unless you believe Media is fine to run the world.

I said nothing about [i]how[i] this body would take control just that in my view it is needed to take the politics out of a national crisis. The crisis being lockdown, not Covid. It could be put to the people but I agree with JK that we have had quite enough of that sort of thing. No, Parliament - as our democratically elected representatives - should agree a non partisan cross party body to take over.

A contradiction in terms - but certainly not a neutral non-political body!

If you put half as much effort into constructing an actual argument as you do jumping on my posts (things I have tapped out in about 3-5 mins on my phone - don't be fooled by the length of some I'm fluent - not fucking leaders submitted to The Times...) then you may end up worth reading.
