Apart from the joy of seeing such a lovely and natural talent win and seeing good tennis - and the delight of mixed race winners (BOTH finalists) - OPEN ALL BORDERS! - I listened on 5 Live and the (mainly female, obviously) commentators were dreadful. Clearly the names Raducanu and Fernandez were too long for point to point commentating so they said SHE instead which made listening impossible. WHICH "she"? You'd think Emma and Layla would be fine.

But also it did show, despite being a great final, that this stupid campaign to allow anybody describing themselves as one gender and not the other must be quashed. Women and men are built differently. As we saw in the North East Marathon where the female winner took a third longer to run the track than the male. Women don't have muscles in the same places. Their bodies are built for things men cannot do.

Nothing wrong with women playing sports (as with Paraplegics). As we saw in Flushing Meadows. Brilliant match. Great tennis.

But if Novak decided he was Nora, he'd beat darling Emma in about five minutes.

She is SOOO instinctively classy. Every word she said in Post Win interviews was spot on. Her parents have clearly brought her up brilliantly. Her education has clearly been perfect.
