Just to clarify; until 15 years ago I was against vaccines. Why? I worried that they GAVE you a dose of what they were protecting you from. A bit like the AZ vaccine for Covid; adapting the immune system by giving you a small dose. But my friend Deniz insisted I started having them when I'd turned 60. They were brilliant; I still got Flu a couple of times but instead of 5 days in bed it was a mere 24 hours. Except for the "wrong vaccine" year (2017) - back to 4-5 days. I liked the sound of the brand new Pfizer idea so was pleased to get that for Covid (now three times). After the flu jab yesterday I feel fine and hope it will protect me over the winter. My worry is that it may fail as no new variants of flu (blended with Covid?) have been found and tested. But fingers crossed. 76 and still going strong.

You must have been thinking of the polio vaccine, Mr King.
One of the types used was a live vaccine and there were cases of people infected from the virus shed into children's nappies, where it could multiply.
I think they use the type that is already killed now.

The flu vaccine can cause the exact same symptoms of flu because it is your body that produces the symptoms, in defence, not the virus. (or vaccine mimicking it)

I guess I overreact, but it always makes me furious when I hear people on TV say they've 'got a bit of Flu'. If you actually have Flu you're absolutely knocked out for the best part of a week, at least, and you never forget how different it is from a mere common cold. Judy Finnigan was always having Flu - she'd 'struggle on' with it for one show and then it would mysteriously disappear. That's why I worried once Covid turned up - if people thought they had the Flu and still went in to work to moan about it all day long and cough all over everyone else, how likely were they to avoid doing the same with Covid? Once you've created a moronic culture, you can't suddenly expect rational and responsible behaviour.

You are right Rick - I've had flu once in my life and couldn't actually move out of bed for days it was hideous.

With Judy F, bless her, I think "Judy has flu" was code on the show for she's been on the sauce again....

Small doses of flu' are very common - as are those for another mild virus, covid.
