TOPIC: For techies

To edit the new movie my company bought the brand new MacBook Pro laptop with extra high speed. This is far better for Editing as you'll see if you watch the new film. I'm not a great Editor however (77 is terribly old to learn how to ride a bicycle every time) but James, my loyal assistant, is. So I've done most of the editing required (two weeks of 18 hours a day) and James has done the tweaking, effects, trimming, tightening up and so on. He came over last week to copy his completed master across to my hard drive (there's not enough space on Laptops so we keep everything on external Hard Drives and obviously need several safety copies in case one gets lost). As you can imagine, a two hour movie needs a lot of power. So both my and James' laptops, and hard drives, were connected to the same power outlet. Fine (luckily) until all masters had been copied over. Then both our power adaptors blew up!

Fortunately he was able to return HIS to normality when he got home, but mine was as dead as a Dodo.

So I went in on Friday with the adaptor - the Genius Bar at Apple Regent Street were incredibly helpful and rapidly tested and replaced my adaptor - except... there were no new ones in the entire UK (all the new MacBooks sold out in days). So they had to order one from the US - it should be here before Xmas they said. No problem. I've used most of the Final Cut I required and for everything else that huge extra power use is not needed so my other power adaptors work fine.

But yesterday I get the message - your adaptor has arrived. I went in this morning and collected it. Brilliant. No wonder Apple is such a success.

Good to hear JK, Apple is great for hardware and software.. Logic Pro is wonderful software for music producers and so is GarageBand for Mac and iOS.
I also bought a MacBook M1 13" a few weeks ago (and then the new super M1's came out..) but I'm still mostly using my 15" MBP that I've had for a few years and it still works fine..

I've never made a full length movie.. only 3-4 minute videos... and even then it's not something I'm particularly skilled at.

A 2 hour movie must be an incredible amount of time and work to write, produce and finalise.
Luckily Revvolution has a good team, the crew, actors, director and of course the executive producer and writer

I remember you saying you planned to make a musical, well you've now made several and all available for the world to watch online at the touch/click of a
screen/mouse.. amazing..., bloody amazing...

Revvolution Movies Ltd is such a unique film production company and the great thing is, we can all watch them online..

Great work and thankyou..

Being independent is great but finding the audience is tricky.

When I was a publican a few the bands I hired for the weekend had indie record deals. Some of the bands opened up for big rock bands across the country, others only found success in the pubs and weddings parties but made a living out of it.

Apple laptops are a rip-off. they are a few hundred quid more than a pc with the same spec and you get built-in obsolescence with apple. the battery will decline within 18 months - 2 years. All you need is a laptop with i7 processor or above.
