That article doesn't say it's ok, it just says it's not a criminal offence.
It's "OK" in the sense (as you point out) that its not a criminal offence to waste your employer (and the public's) time, resources and money driving from London to Gatwick to have sex (during work time) with someone that you made contact with on a dodgy "dating" site !
Whether it's morally right is entirely another matter !

Well then got off your bums and do something decent about it then because your tax money is wasted like you wouldn't believe and is used for plenty of things you wouldn't agree with in a million years so quit whining about one copper getting his end away while he was on overtime and grasp the bigger picture at play here.
And if you still want to play the indignant you don't actually pay taxes willingly you do it because you have to, so if you want to ensure it's done properly, go and work for the NAO!

We weren't discussing the bigger picture, just this one issue, which I gave my opinion on.
If only I'd known that by working for the NAO I could ensure that all UK taxes were used to my complete satisfaction, I'd have applied for a job there years ago. Why didn't you tell me this before?
Re:Shagging (at work) is OK ! 17 Years, 8 Months ago
Well you can go work for the NAO and find all those inefficiencies and then find out how noone is really going to listen unless it becomes a bit of a hot potato!
As for the one issue. The story reported that he was not found guilty of a criminal offence. Internal proceedings will still follow in which he might lose his job - which hopefully will satisfy you that justice for the public purse has been achieved.

I just posted a short throw away comment on the issue, that's all, Uberman. It's hardly an earth shattering story, and I won't be awake all night fretting over it.
I don't want to see the guy lose his job particularly. I know nothing about his previous record and assuming it is satisfactory, then a reprimand and the removal of his wage for the offending period of time would be sufficient, I should imagine.
