Aretha singing You've Got A Friend - in Jesus, sweat pouring down her face with that god given voice (for me the greatest singer ever)- what a way to welcome in Christmas Day 2022 years later.

indeed..what a voice but with passion.

It's why I find Adele rather odd..great voice but doesn't move me one bit except a couple of songs I really like.

I suppose it's very personal. I never took much notice of Tony Bennett until I was dragged along to one of his concerts and was blown away by the absolute purity of his voice that sweeps over you like honey.

Yes Aretha was (outside of the opera greats) THE voice; incredible. It is the technique but more than anything the feeling you are both so right.

I had the misfortune to be exposed to the Ronan Keating cover of "Fairytale of New York" over Xmas. Technically probably on paper superior to MacGowan's singing on the original; but drained of all life & feeling. Antispetic. Dreadful.

Call it "soul" in the broadest sense but it is everything to any form of music or art.

You rarely hear the Keaton version played anywhere now; quality and soul always wins in the long term in any art form...

I only see Ronan Keating stuff in charity shops in the mark-downs or in one of those clearence deals that junk shops do like 'Ten CD's for £3' it's where you find shit pop from the 2000's or late 90's and I doubt Music Magpie will even give you a 1p for them.

If I see a moonshine kit Wyot, it's yours !
