They improve a woman's posture, make them look taller, and accentuate their legs, what's not to like.
I've always found women wearing trainers for non-sport activities distinctly erotic...
What Robbie didn't mention they can ruin women's feet, cause back problems and neck pains.
You would of loved New York in the 80's Wyot, when there urban tennis courts and parks watching young women playing tennis in skirts and nice trainers (80's footware was great) was a nice treat before work.
Now those women must be in their 60s now.

Indeed they are another modern fashion accompaniment but they must be a nightmare to walk in if not dangerous.
My ex-wife tottered around in them for years and negotiated footpaths easily even after many drinks.
I tried to wear my Aunt's when she dressed me in drag at age 14 but I hated them.
These days I wear a pair of beautiful $1000 Prada trainers sometimes with suits and people are most impressed.
For more formal occasions I wear a gorgeous pair of black $1200 Gucci pumps with those famous very recognizable horseshoe thingies on them which draw admiring glances.
My very old fashioned father taught me to always have the best, always polished shoes as people always notice.
## I never bother to tell anyone both pairs of shoes were bought at the local thrift shop for under $40 each ..the benefits of living in a suburb where Fashion Slaves think they have to have the very latest & quickly discard last season's outfits.

So is Nigella Lawson and?
If I only had time machine Wyot. Maybe you could find Jim-Boy's big sandwich that was taken from him in Union City. He bought it to eat when he was going to watch Amen. He put the sandwich down quickly to tie up his laces.
When he crouched down, some tramp lady stole it from him. He hasn't forgiving her after 33 years he stil dwells on it.

Joking aside, the reason why some women can trot around in heels with no problem is that the tendon at the heel shortens, so a raised foot becomes the default position and flats become uncomfortable.
All well and good, if it didn't cause quite a lot of long term damage and misery.
There is an enormous difference in the mobility of older women between ex heel wearers and flat shoe fans.
I never skimp on coats, shoes, jumpers, bedding and soap, but the rest I don't mind about.

I don't see many in high heels these days unlike 10-years ago. Even in nice bars or resturants women seem to be in kitten heels, boots or flats.
