TOPIC: On the worst Covid day
#217482
On the worst Covid day 2 Years, 3 Months ago
of those who die "with" a positive Covid test result in the last 28 days - say 300 deaths - that is one person in every four hospitals in the UK. So, on that day, not a single Covid related death in three out of four hospitals. Does that seem like a killer plague? OVER REACTION.

.. and that is death due to ANY reason within 28 days of testing positive and NOT death due to covid !

And on the other hand, those who linger more than four weeks are not included.

You might just as well not bother with these statistics because they are all bollocks.

Are you "our" Lovely Tim who is always surrounded by ladies in Thailand?

And will experts please stop telling us that the change in severity of the virus is due to the vaccines? It may indeed be ONE of the reasons (as you know I'm a vaccine fan, having had three and intending to get a fourth) but it may not be the only one. Many unvaccinated have got Covid with only mild symptoms. Perhaps Covid has been changing? Perhaps treatment has improved? Perhaps it was never as serious as exaggerated by media? I'm sure I remember hundreds of thousands testing positive before Omicron. But it's hard to keep up.

There have always been some people completely unaffected by covid, but at the beginning we were not testing.
I would certainly hope that the vaccinations lessen the symptoms in those who are vulnerable, or there would be no point to them.

Oh they do Honey. When they gave us the wrong FLU jab in 2017/2018 (which killed 50,000 in 3 months in England & Wales alone, according to the Telegraph) I was very ill for about 5 days (in a luxury hotel in Morocco - definitely the place to be ill). It was very similar to when I think I had Covid (March 2020) except the Covid gave me massive night sweats. Common Sense is often wiser than "experts".

Vaccines have undoubtedly been a game-changer. So long as you live in the "first world", of course:

The "developed world" has acted in a very selfish way.

I become more puzzled by the day but I have noted: with Omicron running riot in Oz and ICUs being filled with anti-vaxers..the opposite is happening in West Australia.

It's a vast state of course but everyone mostly still lives in one crowded city Perth but because they shut the door very early on not only did Covid not flourish but Omicron is non-existent..not a single case.

Isolation works.

Isolation is terrible for mental health. The ones who enjoyed lockdowns are those will no life, friends and hobbies.

I am glad to be working again, supporting local businesses at the same time.

I am still unvaxxed and maskless when out and about.

Yes - isolation would work against the spread of the common cold but would it be worth it and should it last forever (the only sensible way to deal with it)? I think Isolation is essential if you're dealing, for example, with EBOLA - until a vaccine or treatment is found. But for this stupid trivial virus, inflated by media and swallowed by gullibles who get told extremes and believe them ("one more death! Close all off licences!!"), we need common sense.

It really isn't the case that only those without friends or hobbies enjoyed lockdown.
You can make an active choice to enjoy whatever life throws at you, even if it is not what you would choose.

Totally Honey. I am a firm follower of the Stoic philosophers. I have, relatively, a lot. But it is up to me how I respond next week if it is all taken away from me; and I am put in a prison cell.

The ancient Greek Stoic Diogenes famously responded, when Alexander The Great visited the barrel he chose to sleep in and asked him what he could do for him? Responded "yes could you please move aside as you are blocking the sun". Or something similar. Diogenes had perfected living.
