'A moment I've been dreading. George brought his ne're-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida. The one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work.'

Does anyone else whilst thinking of Ronald Reagan automatically picture his Spitting Image puppet?

Yes Spitting Image had a truly ruinous effect (I've never since been able to take David Steel seriously) so I used to call the producer (John Lloyd who I knew - he dated my junior researcher on Ent USA Helen Fielding who went on to write Brigid Jones Diary) and ask him to include me.

He would answer "JK as long as you keep pestering me I'll never do a puppet of you".

It never dawned on him that was exactly what I wanted!
