is MATSURI in Rabat Morocco.

Now it is Japanese (unusual in Morocco which is catching up fast in international cusine but still a way behind) and Rabat, though the capital and global centre (full of all the Embassies)...

but it is VERY VERY good (the Salmon sushi is fantastic though I prefer Tuna - loads of fantastic fresh fish in Rabat, on the ocean)...

but you will NEVER find it. It seems deliberately obscure in signs and directions.

But WELL WELL worth searching out and discovering. You will not regret it!

I love this board; from chart midweeks to obscure restaurant reviews in the Third World... pure magic!

I have heard of this place. mythically of course, like "Brigadoon".

If only Mcdonalds would adopt the same marketing strategy.

Whilst on food, I must take the Guardian on a bit today, with The River Cottage guide to Mushrooms.

I have tremendous respect for Hugh, but as a fungi fanatic myself, I would like add a basic rule of thumb.
If you are not sure, and the mushroom has gills, avoid them and don`t bother with anything in which he says "poisonous unless cooked".

As he says he "hesitates to include the Blusher".
Hesitate? You are having a laugh Hugh, leave them well alone.

The bible for mushroom hunting is " Mushrooms" by Roger Phillips.
I allways worry this time of year when how to collect fungi stories appear in broadsheets.

One accidently picked, beautiful looking Destroying Angel, or a Death Cap, chucked in with your Porcini and you should throw the lot out.

As you know Mart, I adore mushrooms - risotto al porcini is one of my favourite Italian dishes when in Rome and in season - but I do get nervous.

Rather like oysters which I adore but the risk of a bad one is too great and the consequences too horrendous so I've not eaten any for years.

The first parasol mushroom I picked and ate myself, Iliterally sat there in fear of a terrible consequence all afternoon.

Besides which, if everyone goes out hunting, there won`t be any left for me....!
