TOPIC: RIP Dennis Waterman 74
#221150
RIP Dennis Waterman 74 2 Weeks, 4 Days ago
Three years younger than me. Now I've reached the age where younger people are popping their clogs. Dennis was great fun as an actor but known for writing and sometimes singing some rather good theme songs for any series he was in.

What you saw of Dennis is what you got. He used to go to my sisters pub a lot so did Rula. People knew if he was good mood or not, he would talk to bar staff and some customers.

He didn't liked to be approached; a nod would be more enough for him. Some people did buy him and he would be greatful but didn't like to talk to stranger's.

He would sign autographs sometimes but you could tell he didn't want to or he would make a snappy comment at times. (NEVER MEET YOUR HEROES or IDOLS)

Dennis, had a strange sense of humour I was told also and could be very sarcastic and not in a good way. However he never showed this side to my sister and Rula was also polite but she wouldn't say much to her.

My sister treated them like customers not celebrities and wouldn't ask them about work or how their day was. She knew they spent the day filming. So it would of been a daft question to ask. He would buy her a drink from time to time.

Sweeney and Minder are 2 top shows I still watch on DVD over and over again both are great escapism. I am gutted that Dennis has passed away.

I'm surprised you didn't sign Dennis Waterman to UK Records.

Very sad and I was a fan.

Met him once..oddly in all places..Brisbane.

I was visiting from the UK and he was in town doing Jeffrey Barnard is Unwell. I saw the show and he was fantastic.

The following day I went to a promotion for a lovely new hotel on the Brisbane River with a few hacks..in the small ballroom next door Dennis was celebrating his birthday (50th?) and he invited us Glenda Slaggs in for a drink. Lovely friendly bloke.

Always been a fan since Minder.

My sister didn't have a bad word against him or Rula. However they both looked miserable as sin together and awkard when they were together; but it's not our business.

I got my mates in Long Island the Minder DVDS they love it, even the Gary Webster years which I enjoy also. It should of been a spin-off series at that stage.

I wondered if Wyot had the Minder video on the home computer in the 1980's ?
