TOPIC: hedda happy as Oz turns left

hedda happy as Oz turns left 1 Year, 11 Months ago
A right wing government sweeped out after 10 years .

They underestimated the slightly lisping Anthony Albanese who is as clever as they come and left wing.

I reckon he'll be there for at least 10 years.
The extended Albanese clan in Italy is celebrating today.
# the losing side bizarrely ran dreadfully boring adverts sending up Albanese's name..instantly losing the huge Italian vote.

He's setting up a political corruption court and boy..will the scandals be rolling out as the conservatives feathered far too many pal's beds.

What will this mean for Rupert & Lachlan Murdoch?

Lachlan moved his family back to relative safety in Sydney where he runs Fox News from, while his US Talking Heads promote wacky conspiracies that are getting people killed.

There is talk that US lawyers are now contemplating lawsuits against Fox News hosts who have promoted the Great Replacement.

Saudi investors in Fox are nervous.

Rupert Murdoch laughingly claimed all his newspaper editors had control over their titles but every News Corpse newspaper in Oz (every city and major town) went into bat for the conservatives who were reduced to a rump.

Former PM Kevin Rudd wants a Royal Commission (and has 500,000 signatures) into Oz newspaper ownership but it looks like Rupert's power is already on the wane.

# I hear Piers Morgan pulls in about 10,000 viewers if he's lucky.

I enjoy seeing these borish boring post truth bores chucked out; Trump of course has been the highlight, now Morrison. I would feel confident about Johnson but for the paucity of credible opposition here...

Enjoy the moment Hedda.

Not everyone is happy..

with all the promises to win votes and higher hourly rates for workers inflation will go through the roof.. the foreign deficit will get out of control..

The green lobby groups will force energy prices to rise..

Businesses will collapse with the high cost of staff wages, superannuation, insurance and militant unions making it difficult and problematic to let go of unsuitable staff.

Sorry labor supporters for putting out an opposing viewpoint but I couldn’t resist expressing my thoughts.

Oz has always been left wing.

The lockdowns were strict over there and Keir Starmer wanted tougher measurers over here.

No doubt the new PM and the old PM will be in Davos shortly, shaking hands and taking order from their masters.

true..even the losing conservatives were not nearly as right wing as the UK Tories.

eg: both parties compete to fund our NHS, Medicare and any party daring to fiddle with it, or privatize sections, it's the Kiss of Death (important to those who seem to be in their 90s like moi)

## The States are all powerful of course and seem to all swing left and right over the years. Lock downs a BIG FACTOR both for and against.

Early days of course and dav dav is correct.

Labor's primary vote in the 30s with 10 independents who would be Tories in another life.

remarkably even further left wing Greens now have 2 seats but probably at least 11 in the Upper House so will hold the balance of power.

But with the Tories losing 20 seats, nearly a third, like UK Labour..so hard to come back within one election.

Why is Australia so left wing?.
Immigrants from around the world..nearly half the country from somewhere else looking for a better life.

1.2M born Brits alone looking for a better financial life (and get lots of lovely rain just like from back home..grrrr)

I expect Albanese will be pragmatic and as a former left winger become more moderate as he holds on to power.

Responding to dav dav & Hedda primarily.

You both make good points about broadly right & left models, but I celebrate when these vulgarians, haters and dividers are thrown out because I think, beyond political models, the increasingly cheap and binary nature of our politics, in concert with the shameless media, is the biggest threat our species faces.

Politics has become about "types" under these people; humanity reduced to an totally reductive "us and them". All based on lies and distortions and making a virtue out of doing so.

This kind of dialogue will only lead to more fissure, unrest, superficialisation and ultimately destruction for our civilization.
