Rhys murder - 17th arrest !!! 16 Years, 8 Months ago
That's right - 17 people have now been arrested (none charged) over this crime.

It's clear that the police don't have a clue and appear to be arresting people "on spec". They are also under pressure to produce a result.

If I were a "Barry George-type" and I lived in Liverpool, I'd be very, very worried !

I think they are going to get through every Liverpudlian on the planet. Even Paul McCartney might be sweating.

Not quite as sick as people who find something wrong with people expressing their child's life with something they held dear. Change your name, you know very little.

It turns a religious service into a farce.

If they are not religious - then fine - they can have whatever fancy-dress, frivolous funeral that they want ... but this happened in a Cathedral !

I see, you can't be religious if you are dressed in anything other than what?
I have a sneaky feeling you have something against the class of people here, or maybe the city they are from. Or maybe you are a born again lunatic type, I don't know and don't particularly care waht your reasons are for being so insensitive. For God's sake this was a innocent small child that was murdered and you are slagging off his parents, friends and family for how they chose to express his life and what he loved. Get a grip.

I think people should show some kind of respect for the place they are in - and show some due reverence.

What would they think if the Vicar turned up dressed as a clown?

As I said - if they are not religious - then fine - but they seem to want it all ... a Cathedral AND a freak-show !

Ok, your view is that people should show reverence to a building. My view is that a church is there for people to communicate with their God; and a funeral is to mourn and celebrate the life of someone. If it was a toss up between having you in charge of caring for people's spiritual needs and the sympathetic and empathetic man who looks after the Anglican Cathedral, I know who I'd choose.
You have made me really angry ITK and I'm sure I'd get a lot of pleasure out of punching you on your nose.

Oh come on... You could spend at least six posts on "Oh No it didn't" type of exchange

ITK (His definition) is a sort of pet troll here. He did go off in a huff a while ago but came back - not sure which I prefer

The problem you have Moi is you cannot use reason to change an opinion that isn't formed on reason. Arguing with him for a laugh is the only way, trying to be serious and sensible will just annoy you.

One of the nicest (if that is the word) "funerals" that I ever attended was for a dog - at a dog cemetery (I didn't know such things existed).

Everything seemed appropriate, and the whole thing was rather "nice".

If the family wanted a "football frenzy" they should have chosen a more appropriate venue - Everton football club perhaps?

(I wonder if ANY member of this family had EVER been inside the Cathedral before?)

What was the level of appropriateness? Where you all wearing dog collars, lifting your legs to toilet on the trees and sniffing each other? How "nice" and very middle class of you all.
