We don't know what evidence the police have - they haven't spoken yet (much to the annoyance of The Sun who are used to the police "feeding them" info).

As for the behaviour of the McCanns 'let he who has suffered a sudden violent death of a baby cast the first stone'. I see humans haven't changed much in 2000 years. How else would you react ? Wouldn't you go to the Pope, Church, Lourdes if in their shoes ?

If they were really "seaching" for their daughter - surely the place to search was where she was "lost"? NOT Amsterdam, Germany, Morooco etc (just a few of the places they visited on their freebie Euro tour !)

They might also - having "lost" one child - have stayed with the OTHER TWO in Portugal !

Their actions don't show guilt. My point is at this stage is that nobody knows. I think the headlines are deliberately mean't to deceive and to send subliminal messages to the fickle 'mob' to 'crucify' the McCanns. I'm not defending them but i won't attack them either.

They certainly don't show innocence ! The claimed they would stay in Portugal "as long as it took" - but they fled as soon as they thought it was getting "hot".

Within a day of their return they hire a lawyer who is rather good at preventing extradition (while maintaining that they will return to Portugal if need be) ! We'll see !

I love the newspapers headlines ITK (cough) is posting. Obviously the truth is found there.

The switch in newspaper headlines - from virtual "saint" status to suspect - will be nothing to what will come when the papers actually realise how they have been conned (esp the paper that was paying for the private jets !)

For the second time this week, something discussed here has "suddenly" become front page news on the Sky website !

I don't think anyone could possibly predict how people like the McCanns should act considering the extraordinary stress they would be under. We all have our own ways of coping with disaster.

Hopefully DNA evidence has come a long way since the Chamberlain/Dingo case but there are many similarities to the McCanns. I see the UK papers are now speculating on both the McCanns and the way they have acted and this was another factor in Lindy Chamberlain's case. The public and the media went on a frenzy about Lindy claiming she wasn't acting like a woman who had lost her daughter-this was treated as further evidence of her guilt.
