I think your disgust is misdirected and one should-as the Buddhists will say-look to oneself when you accuse others of something. It's often what you fear yourself the most (well that's there story!)
But I also get disgusted but mainly with politicians these days (apart for some notable and noble exceptions). Most disgust me and certainly some like Tony Blair & George Bush and accomplices who can willfully wage a war in which thousands of innocent men, women and children die, I believe are outright criminals but they still walk the streets as free men.
JK is correct when he says basicslly everything one did was against the law-regarding homosexcual acts at some stage. As one brought up both in Australia and the UK I spent my early years indulging in sexual acts with willing partners which only on reflection, I realise that all involved were breaking the law.
Indeed in the mid-90's in Australia a Royal Commission into police corruption and alleged protection of high profile "pedophiles" created so much clamour that I was startled to see one top QC, who I had dallied with when we were both 16, declaring that he had committed illegal sexual acts in th 70's(as I hid behind my breakfast cereal fearing he would name names until I remembered just how promiscuous he was) and demanding to be arrested !.
Likewise when one of Oz's Supreme Ccurt judges, Justice Kirby- a world renowned jurist, declared in his Who's Who entry that his 40 year long-time partner had been a Dutch born newsagent, there were demands by politicians and others, he be arrested and charged as he was declaring he had committed illegal homosexual acts for nearly 30 years.
Politicians even later used this to accuse him of having 'trawled' the infamous Wall-a long street in Sydney where underage teen prostitutes plied their (illicit) trade-in his chauffered Government provided car. It was false but I remember at the time speaking to a local policeman I knew who despaired that everytime The Wall is mentioned in the media-the following week young kids flock from the suburbs hoping to earn money in exchange for sex, having just discoverd it's existence in the sensational mejjah stories.
As to taking advantage of people with gifts, fame or money-well that's the way of the world and this society we live in and (although I make no inference to JK ) a far greater examination is needed of society in general as this happens at every single level and in business. Even advertising takes advantage of the general public and most of it is outright lies.
To condemn one person as you perceive that is what they have done is most unfair.
Or do we dredge the whole Alfie affair again and demonstrate how a Mr Clifford and The Sun newspaper intended to exploit some kids to satisfy their readers rather dubious appetite for tales of teen lust ?. And with a completely false story!.
As for claiming one 'created' a band-say Genesis in this case, although I don't know the ins and outs of that paricular band's history, we may as well dissect a band like the Beatles and examine them.
Would they happened without Brian Epstein or George Martin or all those trusted helpers who were old Liverpool pals who had long careers as road managers etc ?.
It's too difficult to say. It's like re-writing history and trying to leave out some of the players. I'm quite happy to say that I assisted in the career of one guitarist in one of the world's longest and most successful rock bands but would it have happened without my chance introdutions ?. Who knows ? But he did send me a Xmas card for 20 years.
Again I like to pose my usual question that I have never received a satisfactory answer for and which most-especially politicans when asked make polite excuses and move on : why does a person become a "pedo" in , say the UK but not in say, Japan where the legal age is 13 ?. One of life's mysterious conundrums !.
As to one protesting their innocence despite being convicted, I'd point to the UK justice system and it's appaling record of locking up the innocent for ghastly crimes like murder and the IRA bombings. If this can happen in a supposed civilised society, what other terrible injustices have happened ?.
Sadly even amongst the law makers and those who impose the law there are some who make great blunders either intentionally or not.
