TOPIC: Dictionary Corner

Dictionary Corner 16 Years, 6 Months ago
I'v been in the grip of influensa since Saturday. I've quite enjoyed the break to be honest...lots of liquids... soup and listening to BBC 7...watching DVD's...it's been strangely enjoyable, despite on Sunday afternoon believing that I might have contracted a human variant of blue tongue disease. I also watched Countdown with Des (O'connor)...it was Lynam last time I looked). Rick Wakeman was in Dictionary Corner, and it got me to wondering if JK had ever done the legendary DC? I also thought how he would have thoroughly enjoyed doing it. Or maybe not his cup of tea. I don't know. (feeling better now but just taking it easy)

Never did Dictionary Corner - would have loved to under Twice Nightly.

Lynam was great. O'Connor not.

Agreed, JK. The greatly missed Richard was marvellous, and Des Lynam succeeded at the difficult task of replacing him. Des O'Connor has all the required presentation skills and experience, but somehow just isn't right for the job.

I adore Countdown and watch it every day, playing along with my pen and paper!

I can imagine JK sat there in Dictionary corner. I still think Wogan would have been the better replacement, or maybe Barry Norman. It needed someone less showbizzy than Des O'Connor.
