Pleasant evening with Sir John last night... 16 Years, 6 Months ago
As opposed to the 100th issue of Inside Time party last week, this was the launch for John Mortimer's new Rumpole book and my old Cambridge mate Valerie Grove's biography of the legend - both of which I'm looking forward to reading over Christmas.

In the old courtroom of Marlborough Street's converted Magistrate's Court where Oscar Wilde started his journey towards his death a hundred years ago, now a luxury hotel though the area meant more to me for No18, which was the Decca office from where I twice ran the company in the 60's and 70's, we sipped fine champagne, nibbled delicious goumet canapes and mingled with the top media people of Great Britain today.

Yesterday morning was Alan Coren's funeral so there was a lot of gossip from there. Anyone with a sense of humour had funny Coren stories to tell (including myself).

I was overjoyed to meet Maureen Lipman at last - I'm a huge fan and though we've corresponded, we'd never met.

Many comments on my Monster T shirt.
