I've just had a friend repaint my staircase - walls, ceilings, bannisters, doors.
To my astonishment there were seven doors (rooms and cupboards) on the three floors.

He did a wonderful job - walls and ceilings a warm cream; doors white (as they were 40 years ago... to my amazement they had now become a deep grubby yellow - the contrast is unbelievable).

My little house is now gleaming like a new pin. It's stunning how you forget the stairs when you redecorate - then, when you do (40 years later) how it brightens the entire house.

I feel 5% happier just because my house seems happier.
