What a wonderful woman she was. A fine actress but a fabulous personality too. Even after having had several strokes, watching her on Wogan she was 79 - the same age as I am (almost - next month). My mother often had people compare her with Davis when she was a young actress as they had quite similar eyes.
Incidentally I said it many times when she was alive - Sylvia Syms, who did the voice overs on the Talking Pictures BBC shows - deserved a BAFTA and they should give her one, posthumously.
We all know Now Voyager (I must have seen that half a dozen times). I hate to say it - they don't make movies like that anymore. And the question is - why not? I think it reflects the superficialisation problem with humanity. So little depth today - and yet, so little time.
