TOPIC: Tennis coach jailed over pupil sex

Tennis coach jailed over pupil sex 16 Years, 6 Months ago
Today Claire Lyte was jailed for 2 years and 9 months for having a sexual relationship with a 13 year old girl. Have you noticed that none of the reports in the papers or the news, use the word peadophile to describe Miss Lyte. I'm sure that if it was a man words like "Beast" and "Peado" etc would be littered over the tabloids and possibly with good reason. Wheres the sexual equality!!

under 3 years for a 29 year old tennis coach (in a position of trust) going with a 13 year old last year... because they were women.

SEVEN years for a pop star in his 30's (wrongly) convicted of consensual sex with 14 and 15 years olds 25 years ago... they were both male.

Funny old world.

Again she got off lightly, legal system is a complete lottery.
Remember Graham Rix only did a few months, and he groomed his victim by befriending her brother.Obviously being a gay man is the biggest crime in itself...or downloading pictures...there is no defined logic, except how much of a stink the newspapers create.

Just checked out the story in the guardian since my last reply.

www.guardian.co.uk/uklatest/story/0,,-7044609,00.html

Thought the name rang a bell, she's from Solihull of all places, and the same part of Solihull as myself,Shirley.Small world,I knew her parents, who the judge claimed lied in court to protect her.
Seems there could be a whole family in jail at this rate!

And I would remind you - she may well be totally innocent.

Once convicted, virtually nobody thinks it's possible the jury got it wrong (assisted by various bent directions).

Sally Clark was considered guilty until she was proven innocent (by then the damage was done).

Ditto Jonathan King.

What always gets me with allegations of sexual assault is that the accused is always presumed guilty until proven innocent. I thought English law was supposed to be the other way round.
I think it is possibly the only crime where people can be accused years later where there is no forensic or DNA evidence needed to get a conviction.
The frightening thing for me about this is that anyone at any given time can be accused of a sexual offence which can be extremely difficult to disprove.

People are very slowly beginning to catch on to this.

Yes; unfortunately 7 years too late for me and far too late for Sally Clark and Stefan Kisko and other child abusers who weren't.

But as the mountain of false allegations starts slowly toppling, more and more people are going "there's something very, very wrong with the system".

I was SO naive; I thought... if I didn't do it, I can't be found guilty as there cannot be any proof.

Wrong.

I never assumed she was guilty, just commented on the fact that the judge accused her parents of lying on oath. That of course could lead to the whole family in jail, hence my comments.
She certainly didn't help herself by inappropriate behaviour with her protege in public. That however doesn't amount to guilt in itself, just circumstantial evidence at best.
I've chatted to some old friends who know her personally on ICQ last night, and it seems she's a strong self willed character,as of course are many talented people.
Juries often judge a character,as much,or more than the evidence. If they don't particularly like you then you've got one foot in gulag even before the evidence is heard.
The biggest bug of this case is the 8 months lapse of time between the suppossed event, and the Mother reporting it.Bad enough these media inspired greedy loser leeches coming out after 20 years.
If you were the Mum,and you caught this happening, wouldn't you be so enraged you'd resort to violence,or at the very least call the police immediately?

Apart from the lack of the general throthing at the mouth wording that goes with sex case reporting (where would be the tabloids be without these cases ?)-it reflects the bizarre obsession that a lot of heterosexual men have with lesbianism.

Me-thinks we are watching mass Freudian thinking at work : that many hacks didn't go in to hard on this coach because they still harbour that fantasy that one day they will end up in bed with a lesbian and show them "what a real man is like"
