Tory peer Michelle Mone 'regrets' denying links with PPE firm

Michelle Mone says she "regrets" not being more transparent about her links with a company that had UK government contracts during the pandemic.

PPE Medpro is being sued by the UK government for £122m plus costs for "breach of contract and unjust enrichment".

It is also being investigated by the National Crime Agency (NCA).

In December 2020 lawyers for the Tory peer said she had "no role or function" in the firm. ...

Thanks for the tip. I can't read the comments on Twitter (no longer possible since it was revamped and I don't have an account) but those on YouTube are pretty negative. I notice that someone thinks MWT has been "played". I had wondered if that happened with his Savile accusers and with Jeremy Bamber.

A few old media reports also come up if you Google Gumfighters "Mark Williams-Thomas.

But his involvement in that firm isn't mentioned in his LinkedIn profile.

He also claims in that profile that was a "detective" with Surrey Police for 13 years from 1988 to 2001 "Area, CID, FLO, Special Investigations & Paedophile Unit". I understood that he was a police constable for most of that time, and a detective constable only relatively briefly at the end of his police career. For example, in this report from 1997 (Police reassure school over porn scandal teacher) he's described as "PC Mark Williams-Thomas, who arrested Adrian Stark" (related blogpost by Moor Larkin: Suicide is Dangerous). He seems to be regularly described as a former "detective" in the media, however.

Sounds like he was on the fiddle. I am always dubious of so many General Managers, switch overs in hotels or other hospitality establishments.

I do know a few places in Dorset that the GM or owners don't last long, and the hotels change hands after a year or so. I was doing a delivery, I was not told nothing beforehand, but the next day there was a whole new team of staff, even the cleaners were new.
