Don't tell him Pike.
Possibly the best comedy line ever.

Classic television. Arnold Ridley (the oldest - Godfrey in the series, who always sought a permission from Captain M!) was seriously injured fighting in the Somme, in 1916. And most of the cast were in WW2. Though Pike, the youngest, was only 22 when the show commenced.

Arnold Ridley was hard as nails in real life, a bit like Audie Murphy (who starred in his own war biopic). I need to watch re-watch Dads Army tonight I think.
