There needs to be a fundamental national debate about what the purpose of the Police is?

It is surely not to increasingly roll back from our streets (well, they've gone haven't they), to effectively de criminalise shoplifting, burglaries and drugs.

It is surely not to get convictions due to the nature of the accusations (sex being the major numbers game) but to investigate neutrally and facilitate justice.

Just what today is "The Police"? It certainly needs a new name...
