You're making it sound like Gary Glitter was a superb vocalist and performer on the level of Freddie Mercury.

Let's face it, he was a bit of a joke, lacking the true charisma of the true king of glam, Marc Bolan.

The music was superb, though and very unique, with those tribal beats being very much the template for Adam Ant's pop career.

Mike was way too magnanimous towards him.

He was very tongue and cheek, he knew how get a crowd going. He did support alot of big rock bands also.

Please note his were very catchy and easy to sing along to and dance to without much effort. He made a few quid from Shakin' Stevens and Joan Jett.

I have no idea what he was like live apart from some laserdiscs online which seem to be edited. The bootlegs I have heard online are very poor quality. My record dealer and a guy I used to work with, saw him live numerous times and say his concerts were fun, loud and full of energy.

It would of been interesting if ITV interviewed the people who were to close to Glitter not bloody journos and few TV presenters. The ITV doc is something a person could of done on his laptop and post it on Youtube.

Accompanied by friends, or parents or not.

Two flat-chest young girls wearing T-shirts "Shag Me Robbie' were banned from Williams' NEC-Brum gig Feb 22-23, 1998, on his "One More For The Rogue" tour.

Young fans in a 'Police' (group not cops) photo-book are brazenly holding a banner "Fuck Me Andy" drummer Summers. And Sting/Sumner wrote, "Don't Stand So Close To Me" from his arousal when crowded by eager young girls.

Jagger-Richards wrote, "So young, God help me she's so young. She was lookin' terminally cute, I tried to take it easy, put my dick back on a leash. I see big trouble comin', I'm gonna beat a quick retreat."

Sting has said that "Don't stand so close to Me" was not at all autobiographical, but just about a Teacher (not him) who was on the receiving end of a teenage crush. There is no indication that it is about someone getting an erection because teenage girls are too close to him. It is just a message to tell the girl to stay away from him.

Sting has said, "You have to remember we were blond bombshells at the time and most of our fans were young girls so I started role-playing a bit. To be frank, it was right in our market. A lot of teenage girls were buying our records. So the idea was, let's write a Lolita story."

Sting was a schoolteacher for a couple of years before The Police took off, and while he has always denied that the song is autobiographical, he's also alluded to the fact that many of the band's fans in those days were teenage girls. In an interview telling the story behind his hits, Sting said "It's certainly not biographical, but people having relationships with teachers, it definitely happens, and in the song's defence, nothing happens. It's just the danger of, something happens and the teacher is aware of it, which is why he's saying, 'Don't stand so close to me'."

Meanwhile Sweet Tits correction: Andy Summers was Police guitarist, Stewart Copeland drums, Sting lead vocals/electric-bass. And like all HOT groups with hordes of HOT Lolita groupies some with brazen banners saying, "Andy Fuck Me" it is naieve to think that Sting, Stew, Andy were not 'aroused' when one or several stood close, or lay even closer in dressing rooms or hotel rooms.

Well, you can call me naïve if you like, but I dont think most (decent) men are interested in schoolgirls in a sexual way.

I am surprised people have not cancelled Iggy Pop or Trainspotting. He loved the odd 11 and 13 year old.

JK wrote, "I think that was how Britney Spears started, Honey."

Well before Britney and much since, a long line of popular media 'Schoolgirls' have pandered to (decent and less decent) men, women, boys, and girls furtively enthralled while not openly admitting it. Why else would Worldwide 'brand Schoolie' remain so big?

Alice in Wonderland, Shirley Temple, Saint Trinians, Sue Lyon, Brooke Shields, Jodie Foster, Baby Spice, Dominique Swain, Swifty, anyone?
