It is not that I am naieve enough not to know that "dart arts" are practised, but my default position when the endless and predictable conspiracy theories emerge after any major event, has hitherto been to yawn.
But the Trump shooting. How - just how! - did the security services fail to deal with it?
I have now seen footage - 1 to 2 minutes - of the shooter in plain sight with a rifle on a roof, wriggling about, raising his head. On a vantage point directly in front of Trump they hadn't secured and weren't watching.
Staggering incompetence? I am not sure the more obvious answer for once- Occam's Razor - is an inside job. At least Lee Harvey Oswald was actually not in plain sight, fucking wriggling about and bobbing his head up and down with "shoot me" scrawled on a post it note stuck on his forehead....

I share your boredom with the conspiracy theories, Wyot. I've noticed comments that it was all "staged". Absolutely ridiculous that someone could "stage" being almost shot dead and someone else actually being killed!
The attached article goes some way to explaining things. It sounds to me as if it was most probably a foul-up, too many cooks, etc. And with a nation bristling with guns, a deadly combination.

At least Oswald said on-cam, "I'm a patsy" before CIA hired gun Ruby killed him on-cam so that Lee couldn't defend himself in court, and Zapruder's home-movie was CIA concealed until too late proving an additional front head-shot.

Claims the shooting was a conspiracy (well it was in the mind of the killer) seem odd but the whole episode was odd.
Certainly how the shooter managed to get on the only non FBI manned roof and the best one with a view of the podium needs investigating.
Claims he deliberately wounded Trump's ear is ridiculous as such accuracy needed was greater then actually shooting him in the head and from all accounts..he was a rotten shot.
Why did he shoot innocent bystanders?
Claims Trump slapped a vial of blood to his ear as he ducked down seem nonsensical but why oh why did he wear a ridiculous tiny bandage after his raised fist defiance..it made him look silly and the sight of his damaged ear would be a far more powerful message.
What was his obsession with his shoes and how did they fall off? Did he not want anyone to see they had lifts in them?
And why did the Secret Service bundle him off so clumsily giving him moments to pose, raise his defiant fist and in full sight after having been wounded in the head when there could easily have been another shooter who then could have easily taken him out?

I have been to several speech events where former & current US presidents attended in the USA UK and Australia.
Bush Snr, Clinton & Obama.
What stands out is that a huge Secret Service contingent arrive usually 2 weeks prior and basically cover every aspect of the location, hotel, arena all streets leading to them.
And they are deliberately visible not by just wearing badges (with many in civilian gear) and I believe that is deliberate so the public see them and are in no doubt of the "power" involved.
There are numerous black windowed vans all over the place (they fly them in on jets as they will not use any local vehicles).
On the night no-one gets in without passing through a scanner. no photographer gets in without bags being searched and so on.
Yet the Secret Service & FBI covering Trump..who are apparently the same agents
who deleted their Jan 6th ext messages (he requested them) were astonishingly incompetent.
Hauling up Trump after he was hit by a bullet (although the speculation is he was hit by a flying shard from a teleprompter) and allowing him to wave his fist, exposing him for seconds almost like a target yet they had no idea if there was not a second shooter or even that the real shooter had been eliminated.
Then allowing him to scrabble for his shoes.
All this takes seconds ( all that is need..JFK) but it was bizarrely incompetent and it will be odd if Trump retains the same SS detail.
And there seems to be no calls for a thorough investigation into every aspect as they attempted unsatisfactorily with JFK and with the shootings with Gerald Ford, Reagan, RFK, Martin Luther King.
The only actions so far is Trump golfing the next day and the printing of his Iwo Jima moment collector cards with raised fists and an upside down US flag.
There may well be a conspiracy but one of silence.

It was reported that Trump said his shoes came off with the force of the Secret Service officers landing on him.

Maybe he's difficult to wrangle, being so big and feisty.
Incompetence over conspiracy any day - remember this was just another one of dozens of appearances. People get lazy and after a while, let's be honest, don't give a fuck. "It'll never happen". Until it does - then everyone over reacts. From now on, all over the world, budgets for health, welfare, education, culture will be robbed to pay for massive security. Until a few months time when it will all slip back to normal until it happens again to an Indian or Columbian or Tunisian - when it will go back to "high alert" again.
