Is Britain Safe 1 Week, 4 Days ago

Hi to everyone and to our host JK,
Crimewave UK
youtu.be/Kj2ghENIjvo?si=Nze6OBVFYySQj6u4
I watched this Channel 4 documentary on YouTube last night and it paints a very bleak picture of crime.. particularly
thieves and crooks on mopeds/e-bikes etc who snatch phones out of the hands of pedestrians and quickly ride off,
plus e-bike theft, burglaries, fancy watch theft and everything else..
For those of you living in London and the other cities and towns, is it really this widespread and dangerous..
Is Britain in decline..

Well I have been pick pocketed and my wallet and all my credit cards and cash stolen from me in the city I live in
and just as well I was living in an inner suburb at the time, a 45 minute walk from the city.. but the real horrible time I was robbed was when
I had driven to a friends house who was moving out and he said.. come over as I wanna get rid of a bunch of things .. kettle, toaster etc..
so I went over, put some things in the back of the hatch and hid my backpack in the back of the Ford Laser out of view..
Eventually came down to the car after being upstairs for a while and discovering the back seat had been pulled down giving access to the boot and the back pack with my spare house keys, wallet full of credit cards, bank cards, identity cards, electronic work keys, cash, my diary with all sorts of confidential information and passwords etc .. all gone..along with the toaster, kettle etc.. it was a nightmare.. I was up all night calling the banks after hours numbers to cancel all the cards (and I had a lot of accounts..) going through to their offshore call centres which in itself is a difficult process .. then in the morning I had to arrange for a locksmith to come over and change the locks.... could have easily turned into identity theft on a grander scale.. By the time my cards were cancelled they'd spent over $2000 at service stations and convenience stores in the middle of the night...
It took a few months before the banks credited my accounts with the lost funds..
Green Man that's one thing about not having a very smart / expensive phone... they'd just throw it in the gutter after snatching it from you.. whereas I have an iPhone which basically has everything in it.. so then it becomes an extreme horrible situation.. fingers crossed.. good idea about dining indoors at cafes .. as they're unlikely to ride their mopeds in-store.. mind you.. many work in gangs and have their accomplices eying off anyone who looks like they have money or expensive watches, hand bags, latest iPhones etc..
My late mum had her wallet/purse stolen when she was in Greece on holiday..but that's another story.. (it's even worse when you're in a foreign country and you don't speak the language..)
