But the Democrat vote was well down. I had a feeling that the USA will never elect a woman as president.
# I was also very wary of the Latino vote..they are conservative and riddled with machismo and are misogynist. Wonder if they'll be deported in huge numbers as Trump has promised along with Muslims?
Still..amazing how Trump time and time again said the vote was being rigged yet remarkably, not a peep about now.
Surely he meant deport people as they come over the border, not people actually settled?
Enough people wised up to the fact she was a very bad candidate who was not up to the biggest job and had no gravitas and that she essentially had nothing to say and was not prepared to tell the electorate very much. Add on top a significant amount of people who thought she had not earned the right to be the candidate unlike Trump.
Most Harris supporters secretly know all this and just can't face up to it. I thought she might be getting away with it, pleased she hasn't. Ironically there are even suggestions Biden would have done better after all. Hilarious.
I don't agree Rich. I think Trump would have won whoever the Democrats put up. People were fed up with the current state of the USA (just as they were in the UK months ago) and Trump's team won the important media fight.

Yes. People had way too much freedom in the USA. Trump will be bigger walls.
This is a comment left this morning by "Kate" on a media forum elsewhere. I quote exactly the entire comment.....
"If ever proof was needed that a huge number of Americans have heads like a block of wood . All that matters is racism and religion . Used to spend all my holidays there , but that’s me and the US finished . Very depressing."
When will people like this actually wake up and understand their opponents and not think others with a different opinion are simply thick and stupid. Have some of these people learnt absolutely nothing in recent years? They are an embarrassment, and the last comment about refusing to visit an entire nation because you didn't like the fair and square election result the people of that nation delivered says more about their own bigoted view and IQ to me.

Please what the freedoms people had under Biden? Apart from hyper-inflation, lockdowns and their hard-earned dollars go to midgets acting as war leaders.

I think it's more State law than federal. Illinois, New York, California, and Vermont are the popular states that welcome illegals. Oddly, people from California have had enough of the Dems and are settling in the neighbouring southern states. You can't a more laid Dem state like California but it's so unruly with lax laws, just don't break their lockdown laws unless you are in office.
There is a difference between illegal and legal immigration. Legal immigration is very welcoming to Americans especially if you have a trade or work hard in an entry-level and you climb up the ladder. That's what most American's call the American Dream not surviving on handouts and EBT cards with no ambition to better yourself.
"This is a much bigger win for Trump than 2016. No getting away from the size of the mandate for changed policies on immigration, enforcement of cultural norms, economic policy etc. And it was given eyes-wide-open by an electorate fully aware of his flaws. Epoch-making."
Yet some people will frame those who voted across America, twice now, the same way they did with Brexit voters here, they didn't know what they were voting for, were lied to, blah blah blah.....yawn. NO THEY WERE NOT. They voted eyes wide open.

I want to know if people who say they will leave America will actually do it. Not everyone can afford to do it, some people have the ambition but don't do anything about it.
I sure Canada will welcome them and then send them to the Eugencics centres.
All I'm left with after this result is a sadness and fear - for humanity - that so few now see basic human decency and integrity as in anyway important. In the US anyway.
No one who values such things could have voted for the man.
It isn't about right or left or policies. Perhaps not even so much about media.

Very white American born middle class Trumpians with their MAGA baseball caps and patriotic flags draped across their lawns can celebrate the Anniversary of the USA's version of the Berlin wall and be racist without a conscience. What would your reaction be if Biden supporters stormed Capitol Hill and cried 'Cheats'.?
Oprah Winfrey, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, Robert de Niro and others will all presumably be looking for a new £20 million homes and sanctuary in Starmer's woke UK utopia.
If they do, don't get too comfy because it ain't going to last for long like that here either.
Interesting that folk on here seem perfectly OK with the threats of retribution Trump has issued to his "enemies" ie those who didn't vote for him and generals who have criticized him.
He has threatened to use the army against the American people, wants to set up concentration camps for the homeless and deport millions of people even those who have become citizens.
If you ever wondered how Germany slipped into Fascism so easily now you know.

We must hope it is just his strange, rambling disturbed talk, although it is troubling how many lap it up. Another gleam of hope is that he largely did nothing last time. I think he just wants to swan around being the main man...I don't think he has much ambition or aim beyond The Don...

Yes there is every chance that what he says at his rallies is essentially hot air.
There is also his age which really was catching up to him at times. By winning he has also avoided any chance of a jail term so he may be more relaxed.
Those who worked with him last time said he was basically quite lazy but it's those he will surround himself with including JD Vance who is keen on Project 25 which is quite a horror show for the unemployed seniors and those relying Affordable Care health.
And of course the real life Bond villain Elon Musk.
