I get the feeling that the Mail group, with the Mail On Sunday exclusives about your appeal and this very positive article about the Christmas card, are poised to support you if your European application succeeds.

Indeed a friend high up in Derry Street says there is a very sympathetic attitude towards you which they believe reflects middle England (as opposed to bottom England - no pun intended).

They think you were the victim of a witch hunt and were targeted for the wrong reasons.

Just saw the Star - lovely big spread, nice picture of the card, and every mention of wrongful convictions gets more and more people thinking.

With luck the ECHR will quash the convictions next year and I can send an even more amusing card in 2008.

Next year's card should have all the policeman that initially arrested you being hanged. What will the tabloids call you next year when your convictions are overturned.
