I know nothing apart from what I read and see in media (worse than nothing) but this habit era of assuming guilt must stop.

According to what I’ve read (ditto JK) Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark (who I’ve always rather liked) accuses him of making ‘sexualised jokes’… JOKES?

Yes Wark's accusations reek of changing times rather than serious abuse. Expect her to indict James Bond next.

Career and reputation destroyed because of 'sexualised jokes'. Unfuckingbelievable.

Are we sure he doesnt have dementia? Sometimes it can cause this type of behaviour.

Nobody wants to see him wearing nothing but a strategically placed sock, but did anyone tell him to cut it out, or thump him?
Where were the other men?

I remember him when he was a fruit and veg man back in the day. I don't remember him making sexual jokes but he could be very, sweary, rude cocky and arrogant. He might have hit his head just one too many times on the van door Honey.

I was warned by my parents never to date anyone who has been married and divorced too many times nor to date girls who are in to casual sex. His marriages have been very short-lived, what has he been up to?

One of the allegations seems to be that Greg Wallace walked into a BBC Studio during production of Masterchef whilst completely naked except for a sock pulled over his penis which he began to wave about and dance with in a silly manner.

Now that may be a joke on a lads night out or a party in a private residence, but it is not a joke when done in the professional setting of a busy workplace.

He will never work in television again. Kirsty Wark seems like a credible and trustworthy witness too.

Let's all get angry about a man being very silly at work. Meanwhile 50 000 children murdered and maimed by a Zionist darling of the West...

My old friend Rod Stewart has chipped in because Gregg "humiliated" his wife years ago. Come on Rod, I've humiliated you dozens of times (and you me). The point of this is - people should NOT be censored due to past minor indiscretions. Like the Minister resigning because of some long past mistake. As a society we have collapsed when people who may or may not be good at their jobs are removed due to other reasons - mainly because it's a good media story.

And these fragile souls 'appalled', 'shocked', 'humiliated', 'traumatised'...have they all stepped out of a Rupert Bear Annual?

This is how a grown up civilised society would respond:

1. Be pleased that women are far less likely now to be exposed to this sort of behaviour. They should not have to receive whatever a sex obsessed infantile male considers "funny" as "funny". It is offensive and patronising. And that it went on regularly in past generations and times have changed is irrelevant. So did slavery. And no, I am not implying a moral equivalence.

2. Talk to Wallace and try and make him understand the impact of his behaviour, after it has been established that he did in fact behave in this mannner. Forgive him and allow him to continue his career on the understanding it never happens again.

Where has the notion of forgiveness gone? Why is it now seen as a weakness rather than a strength?

Oh yes as I found out 24 years ago. Being bisexual was illegal - a crime often prompting death. Even when gay relationships were made legal (1967) it was only if both parties were over 21. The age of consent was not equalised at 16 until the late 1990's. So media and police used loopholes to get convictions ("claim it happened two months earlier"... "say you didn't consent"... "years later claim you were humiliated").
Dear Rod seems oblivious that his kind intervention on behalf of his wife almost guarantees a greedy false accuser from his past filing a complaint in order to grab a million quid.
A great story. Which reminds me - what's going on with ex-DPP Starmer ("you will be believed even if you are lying")?

Never heard of this guy. He sounds like an exhibitionist, so should be pleased with the attention.

I agree with the forgiveness bit Wyot. Fact is this man will now be seen as a pervert by the public, his career and rep buried, and imagine the impact on his family. I mean, what did he actually do? It's nothing.

It probably happened more than once, not forgetting he may have said some things inappropriate in work meetings or private functions.

When he was the fruit and veg he tried to be one of the lads at the places where he was delivering.

I would like to know how he found fame because he is not a trained chef.

Wasn't Chris Evans alleged as someone who had once turned up to some work meetings naked? I do remember he frequently week after week had many of his male work colleagues parading fully naked on a Channel 4 live TV show, TFI Friday, from 6pm to 7pm on Friday nights in front of men and women in the late 90's, and joined them naked himself at least once. Imagine that now at any time never mind early evening!

Even on BBC1 in 1999 for Comic Relief he was on the main channel stripped naked on a football pitch with his friends and work colleagues while Gazza the footballer went up and down commenting on all the genitals lined up, including those of his own brother and Chris Evans.

You can be naked and non sexual, as well as naked and sexual, but then you can be clothed and very sexual as well.

Some of these front pages are national humiliation on a big scale, especially the Daily Star, that's big punishment in itself.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c20gv395l22o

You can't take the attitudes of the present day and apply them to the long gone past though, otherwise who knows what behaviour we are all doing now that will later be deemed dodgy, unacceptable or even criminalised later this century and beyond. Attitudes have changed dramatically even in just 20 years or so since the millennium year 2000, never mind the 1970's or earlier. Things may swing back, who knows.

Poor guy over some sexualised jokes that were okay in the past.
They may as well sack everyone. I bet there is no one who works at the BBC or ITV
or any other network that didn't make jokes that are deemed offensive today.

I bet even Kirsty herself did, we all know what women get up when their drunk
at hen parties and nights out.

And yes Rod Stewart might come to regret his comments, someone will be after him
for similar.

Today's society really has lost its sense of humour.

There is a difference between real sexual harrassment and jokes.

No one should have to answer for jokes.

i have every sympathy for people going through this sort of "scandal".

For some reason I thought of this video when Rod Stewart got brought up in this conversation. One for your music videos thread GM.

Rod's no angel I'm sure and has a lively history, but some of what I've read on Wallace seems downright sleazy.

When half the world is currently being bombed and so many living in famine and despair, I cannot understand anyone giving a flying fuck about a man dancing naked with a sock on his cock. I'm sorry..people are pathetic.
