Well give the People credit for trying... 16 Years, 5 Months ago
It was the one paper where, for the first time in years, I didn't send them a Christmas card.
Because I don't know anyone there (they don't even have an Editor anymore) and the circulation has plummeted.
So they spent days trawling through these boards and finally Nick Dorman (the dormouse from Alice In Wonderland) came up with this sensational exclusive story instead of the card (I gather they called EVERYONE begging for a card - hey, Nick, I'm sending them out from here to anyone who asks)...

In case you missed it and don't buy the paper (sadly nobody does these days)...

Who in god's name writes for The People? What an utterly ridiculous piece of 'news'. What a waste of paper, ink, time and money. You are right JK...good investigative intelligent journalism has been laid to rest...RIP.I hope you really really annoy them by living to 127!!

..and I can only hope that other people get mown down by a large bus!

There wouldn't be too much mess as their brains are so very tiny.

Quite so, Chrissy, I was just about to post something similar.

How ever long you decide to live, JK, I expect it will be longer than The People!

That's one paper I've never read. I don't read any papers now, but I didn't even know this one was still in print.

The piece isn't exactly oozing intelligence. I guess their readership can't be overly intelectual and so they keep their writing as simple as possible. If this 'victim' is eventually proven to be not a victim, I wonder what they'll be saying then.

What deeply angers me about the People article is it's tawdry lack of any type of proper research. It skanks of an opinion...that is spoon fed upon its readership..so one can only come to the conclusion that our Jonathan has been right all along.

I have learnt much from visiting here...I have put my foot in it numerous times...feeling afraid...treading in waters I felt were out of my depth.

Jonathan King is a man whom I only knew from the telly and radio...in halycon days when video was the big thing...I'd watch ET USA on Friday nights courteosy of our wonderful betamax video machine.

Yes. I'm celeb awe struck...so what? Jonathan was and still is a great broadcaster. I was one of the many who listened to him on Radio One, his excellent reports from across the atlantic; his ability to inform, educate and entertain...not by design of anyone else...it was Jonathan who made certain what his programmes looked like, sounded like and what they sent out to people.

They could have always been as shallow as something like X Factor, it never was, it never could have been. Not while JK was in charge.

I relish this opportunity to let the man know what I feel. Of course I do. I have other heroes too...long gone...those whom I would have posted my admiration toward. Not possible.

Yes, I believe Jonathan is innocent. No doubt in my mind whatsoever. If I believed otherwise I can assure you I wouldn't be here.

The man made mistakes...the channel four thing was a dreadful mistake...and was clearly designed to put him in a bad light. A man fresh from incarceration, perhaps confused, perhaps so determined to prove his innocence he didn't see the enemies at the door.

I can understand that.

2007: The Shipman video didnt help. I feel that Jonathan only served his critics...they lapped it up. I dont believe Shipman was innocent and I dont believe Shipman deserved JK's creativeness or kindly outpourings.

I stand by that.

I do feel Jonathan has turned a corner, and I still believe he will be successful through the ECHR.

As Jonathan puts so wonderfully down in his excellent Christmas Card...his mother, his love of his life, knew that her son was above all humane and good; she above all knew him better than anyone, and JK posted up a picture of his dear beloved just before she died.

A woman at peace with the world. Having lived a glorious life. She knew the truth.

Sentiment...terrible sentiment..posted by a sycophant... a loser...a loner...wanting recognition via a celebrity.

Maybe...I'm not denying anything... but maybe just maybe I have the insight to come to the conclusion that Jonathan King has been the victim of a police state...and a skin for the powers that be to hang up and let dry; for all to smell and identify a 'sickness'.

I've said enough. And tonight I am sufficiently angry to get very drunk.

Fuck The People...and all those who dwell within the bosom of corruption and lies.

Oh come on-do they really pay someone to write that ?

I know most tabloids scrape the bottom of the barrel for a story but that was just the most pathetic I've seen for some time.

And let's just imagine there was a victim. What a public service they do by drawing attention to the subject !.

A relative ?..no wonder Private Eye has a field day with these tabloids. They may as well say.."a lady who lives around the corner from someone who is related to a man who lives on the top floor of building 3 miles away from a relative of the sister of a girl who lives ten miles from where the dead grandmother of a victim lived 8 years ago"

I love the tag at the end...

"The world's oldest man is..."

See - the story contains a fact so it must be true
