I'm away until the New Year. Spending Christmas with my closest family, and probably the last one with Tara the family springer, whom has picked up recently. Isn't it amazing how love can heal? Looking forward to this break, and I deserve it, as I've worked hard this year, despite occasionally skiving off to visit messageboards, including this one.
A strange year. Lost a couple of people I thought were friends. They described me as a 'sycophant' for coming here and showing support to JK. So they weren't friends after all if they can be so bloody petty minded. I told them that if I had the opportunity, I'd talk to many people I admire or have admired online; it's a fascinating medium that allows you to do that. I remember in the old days the only correspondence would be through a fan club or other; and you could guarantee that your hand written letter would never be read by the intended recipient. I once sent a letter to Jeff Lynne in 1980. No reply. I'm certain he never read it.
JK's honesty and generosity here is unparalleled. The photos he has shared, his life, his memories. It's a fascinating insight into the life of a man who dominated the pop culture for so long, and who was also a marvellous broadcaster and whom way back when could never have dreamed I would be conversing with here.
I believe the man to be innocent, dont agree with all he says, but admire him for his work mainly in radio and television. Hated his version of Paloma Blanca. There! I've said it.
2008 will be a great year for JK. This particular sycophant keeps his fingers crossed.
All the very best to everyone.
Cheers.
Chris McMillan.
