David Coote 2 Weeks, 6 Days ago
I had no idea who he was before making the headlines but being gay and on cocaine in sports is not new. How come footballers can party on booze but not snort? Booze is a drug and also a poison. Drugs is not my scene but I do believe people should be able to do what they want as long as they don't hurt/kill children, animals or innocent people.

I wonder how much footballers enjoy their post-game showers with their teammates and play Pimple or Boil, whip each other towels and call each other "Bitch". Once they bagged their trophy wife and got the millions they dreamed about, they go for their next fix.

What people fail to grasp, especially closets is many people have very good Gaydars.

Oh yes GM, so right. There have always been heaps of gay or bi footballers even in the long gone past, and they didn't shower but they all had a good big deep bath together. Do they still, or is it showers only now? Anyway, plenty of gay footy players in the major leagues in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's were probably gay and sitting in those baths with a dozen filthy sweaty men and sticking their feet up the crotch of one of their team mates touching their balls or brushing bodies and enjoying it somewhat, and if they got a slight arousal nobody else noticed because the water was probably a deep dirt brown that hid them anyway! Infact didn't men come out of those things grubbier than when they went in?

I've an old first division football programme of my grandfather's from 1979 at home and the front page is a full glossy colour picture of the team all naked in the team bath from an earlier match, soapy and wet and looking like they are all enjoying it immensely, limbs flailing about and splashing.

That's not the point and I never said he was a footballer, he was working in football.

Take a hike.

That's enough to make me blush, Rich. When I was younger, I was a bit confused about my feelings. I never dated a guy, but I had a crush on some guys. Then I was told I was probably in awe of how they dressed and presented themselves, which was probably true, but my hormones were raging.

Some transvests and drag queens can be very convincing if they make an effort and in a good light.

I wouldn't be surprised if football players played footsie in the communal baths they took after the match. Not forgetting they probably gave each other a cheeky slap on the rump when they saw their teammates walk about in the dressing rooms in jockstraps or a towel on around their waists. No doubt a few players snatched towels from the waists so they can have a bloody good look, then say "It's only a joke".

Not forgetting the goal celebrations can be very suspect.

The way you put it GM I'm beginning to think our schools all missed a trick here, they should have given us all communal baths instead of disliked showers because they sounded much more fun and enjoyable! Come to think of it, maybe not, having to share the bathwater with a brother was more than enough, sharing with a whole class would probably be grim, all that scum, ughh, and some joker would always be bound to take a leak and brag about it to the rest.

But seriously, you can be gay in so many sports nowadays without issue, as it should be, so why is football so backward and homophobic in this day and age?

Football fans think they have feminine feelings hidden when they are chanting like apes and wearing expensive replica shirts. If they are overweight with moobs their T-levels will be low.

Most football fans are overweight and they drink too much which again lowers T levels and damages healthy sperm.

Then again when football fans fight they can only use weapons to gang up on one bloke or much smaller groups. Then, they probably go home to their lavender marriages, to keep up with the facade.

Most people who are homophobic are confused themselves. Let that sink in Rich, when you hear crude chanting in football.

For a bloke who doesn't follow/hates football - GM's morbid imagination and utter hatred for it and its supporters, are self evident.

I have served rugby players from rival teams without argy-bargy or petty insults. You will see rival teams shake hands when they see each other in the pub and even buy rounds for each other after matches. Rugby fans are a different breed, I don't like rugby either but the fans I have are well-spoken, polite and generous.

When it comes to football it's a completely different story, I have seen fans who support the same teams go into fistfights with each other and roll on the floor to sort each other out, it's one of the most retarded scenes I have ever seen.

Then there is that football yob, who can't handle booze or his anger so he hits his partner if his football team loses. Again he is hiding his homosexuality? Real men don't hit women!

I hadn't noticed I wasn't calm Wyot!

This is the programme cover I was referencing yesterday GM. Found online. Haven't found my physical copy though. Haven't seen it in years, it's packed away somewhere with many others with more traditional covers. Being a closeted gay male footballer doing this each week must have been tricky, at least Coote was only a ref and so didn't have a team.

Two of them have tashes, they look like the gentlemen that used to ask for "business" outside the seedy cinemas and video shops.

In regards of your facts, Barney. I know about football but it's not going to change my mind.

GM's morbid imagination Is being gay morbid now, no wonder footballers don't come out of the closet.
