I ended up with Orson Welles - again - and The Third Man, followed by The Life Of Brian - again... He's a VERY NAUGHTY BOY!!!

I spent some time watching the various New Year celebrations in Russia, who have 11 time zones. The ultimate was in Moscow at 9pm our time. Their presentation from among the ordinary people gathered in Red Square was far more superior and enjoyable than the BBC's little party of D List celebs. This was on the 'Russia Today' english language channel.

I also dug out one of my favourite New Year DVDs - Rod Tayler in The Time Machine. Wonderful stuff.

Having stopped up to watch the fireworks at midnight, I then tuned in for a bit of Jools' Hootenanny on BBC2, but flicked over to see the 1968 Elvis comeback special on ITV3.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

Happy New Year!!

I caught the end of the terrestrial "spectacular(!)". Chaos, sadly not riveting, unless one enjoys a sprinkling of skaters meandering around, i.e? a bit empty wasn`t it?
The sort of programme that actually needed an out of control party animal , instead we were served up with camera crews quickly handing a presenter who kept complaining he was hot, a drink, so that he might look like he was in the party mood.

The best TV moment of the season was on ITV 2 or 3, in which the link guy between films complained bitterly about the disallousionment of his job and ended by saying it was his last broadcast ever.
Where are the Ollie Reeds?
Link men?

Moscow, indeed the whole of the former CCCP are miles ahead when it comes to official celebrations.
I watched the Russian New Year here in Ukraine on PTP (RTR),they're a hour ahead of us here.We then had 1+1 here in Ukraine an hour later, also very good from Kiev.
Sydney was great as usual, but the fireworks in my small town were probally more enjoyable than London's effort.
Anyhow seasons greetings to one and all:)
