Who came up with the term "Influencers"?

Has there ever been a more self aggrandising term than people who describe themselves as "influencers". I'm not sure where it came from, sounds like a media term cooked up at some point, it didn't exist 10 years ago or so.

Who are they influencing and to do what exactly, such as this cretin with the wombat. Did she think the creatures were stuffed toys to play about with or something? The complete lack of self awareness from these people, so often American are they not, amazes me. Someone literally filming themselves being cruel to animals and thinking it's worth promoting to make her look cool or amusing in some way, visiting another nation and treating their wildlife with such disrespect.

Maybe someone should kidnap her children if she has any now or in future and dump them beside a remote road against her wishes and see how she feels about that. We could have that filmed and have a good laugh at her expense then. I hope they never issue her another visa.

I see she's described as an "outdoor enthusiast and hunter". It sounds like she might also be one of those vile trophy hunter types that pose with dead lions or will soon aspire to be. She needs watching alright and it's not by a bunch of her gullible influencer led morons.

Now she's come up with a story that she was helping the baby wombat off the road and the video wasn't done for entertainment. She's also claiming to have received thousands of death threats and is criticising Australian wildlife policy. It seems to be another chapter in the story of "me me me me me".
