Birmingham is the same as all urban cities, identical to each other.
Our cities (and coastal resorts) have gone right down hill.

The centres of towns and cities are now seriously affected by new shopping centres being built on the outskirts - where people go to shop, leaving the old high streets to die.
Good examples are Eastbourne and Portsmouth - the busy retail outlets, in the latter area, at Gunwharf Quay (ex-navy/waterfront property) reinvigorate themselves in the evening.
With businesses and properties taking on an entertainment/nightlife roll for a totally different clientele - incorporating cinemas, casinos, bars and restaurants. The transformation is stunning.
