TOPIC: Gordon's latest brainwave

Gordon's latest brainwave 16 Years, 3 Months ago
Gordon thinks people should do 3-year wage settlements, as it helps long-term planning. WHOSE long-term planning though?

Imagine settling for say a 3% wage rise for each of the next 3 years and then along comes nPower (and others) who put up your gas and electricity by 25% (a year ?)

I hope people don't fall for it.

I agree with you about the point, but think your estimate that bills would increase by 75% in three years a little excessive.

Even if there were no further increases on power bills for the next 3 years - unlikely? - the bill would have increased by appx 25%, whereas the wages would have risen by less than 9% (as the proposed rises are to be staged and are therefor not 3% per year - more like 1.9% per year).

It's the way of the world unfortunately, for the vast majority of the working population, growth in wages never matches the inflation rate; sad but true, no matter what government are running the show!
