TOPIC: Dear old Sun...

Dear old Sun... 16 Years, 2 Months ago
quote me from my Inside Time column this month that "if they are going to call me a Vile Pervert I'd prefer to be a Front Page Vile Pervert" but cut the quote before I say "rather than buried away on page 36".

Wittliy they run the story today on... page 36.

www.insidetime.org/articleview.asp?article=3

At least there's still someone on the paper with a sense of humour.
Or was it (as I fear) just a coincidence?

Obsessed by me, The Whip leads the column on page 32 with a story about my views on Atonement.

But they never mention my ten years as a (Thursday) Sun columnist!

Nor, today in their post Brits issue, that I hosted The Brits in 1987 - 21 years ago.

And a gratuitous and unnecessary mention in Brian Reade's Mirror column today.

What is going on? Is it National Goad King Day?

I have to smile, when I was at school, when we wrote a comprehension piece out, we had to list the rules of precis next to it.

This in periodical practice of course, would make the tabloids much thicker were it put into place, but may well cause a dip in advertising revenue.

Oh no, Jimbage, I'm not complaining - especially the Whip piece which, in prominent position, quotes (accurately!) my thoughts on false allegations, carried on here months ago (what on earth induced her to find them now? Googling Atonement perhaps?).

I think the Whip piece is brilliant almost as though the Sun has decided it's on your side - but has to pt "oh do shut up" at the end to look like they hate you for the majority of their readers.

Like most Sun articles it's a pointless waste of space.

On the bright side for you, JK, it might help increase sales of your music.

I dispute the claim the tabloids could be any thicker than they are

Oh dear JK, you have upset a few people on the Sun website.

If only they would read your article on Inside Time, then they would realise how poorly reported it was.

For the record, I imagine you gained a lot of respect in prison, by embracing it and getting to know and help some of the poor souls.

You had every right to feel bitter following your false conviction, but instead you turned it into a positive and helped people.

I have said it before that I believe that a lot of the reason you are going through with the appeal, is to help these people (like yourself) who have been unfairly convicted.

To be fair, the fact they are giving you publicity may mean that they miss you and want the appeal overturned.

Yes I tried to leave a nasty comment myself Mike but gave up after all the complex registration regulations.

Clearly most Sun readers are far more intelligent than I when it comes to new technology.

I did like the simple comment "he has a certain style".

I notice the Sun Sheep all seem to think you meant that prison was a cushy place. I'd guess that you refer to the way the experience opened your eyes and taught you so much about Britain and about Humanity, and made you a better person. Prison certainly is not cushy.

Disclaimer:

Opinions expressed here are those of the writers and do not reflect those of the Sun. The Sun Online accepts no responsibility legal or otherwise for their accuracy of content.

That is at the bottom of the webpage. That is very amusing.

and 15 people have now commented and 'the certain style' comment is the only one that is amusing. Notice how young the pictures are of the people posting them. They clearly have very little to do at university.

Spot on JC - but it's so much easier to think in black and white caricatures.

In my experience, however, the vast majority of the public actually have wiser thought processes.

Remember, I was far and away the most popular Sun columnist for ten years and you'd be astonished by the percentage of intelligent and perceptive letters I got. I read every one - thousands a week - and at least 50% were worth reading.
