This left me in shock! 16 Years, 1 Month ago
I could not believe this new Met police campaign. We are told to report photographers acting 'odd', people with more than one mobile phone and to spy on our neighbours. See: www.met.police.uk/campaigns/campaign_ct_2008.htm

I for one will fit the bill for being an 'odd' photographer - I like taking black and white photos of stark shapes like power pylons against a stormy sky, London commuters and in the half-light of the city at dusk. My arrest is imminent...

Uzbeckistan please - if I am given the choice!

All the photographers I know are passionate about the UK and it's wellbeing. Also they are far more aware of those around them and genuine suspicious behaviour than those who walk along, stooped double whilst texting.

Why not encourage photography instead and then they may just find that something important was captured on film that would benefit them...

start reporting photographers from the daily newspapers-they act pretty odd at times. Then see how long this campaign lasts.

This is complete and utter hypocrisy. It's acceptable then for CCTV cameras to be erected and planted everywhere you go supposedly for our "safety" and "security" with heaven knows who watching and spying on every move you make in public making one feel like a criminal... and now they want to stop people taking photos? Am I missing something here? I know loads of people who own 2 mobile phones... yeah, right, arrest the lot of them and the Police would be outnumbered. Pathetic.

Lets face it with all our freedoms and rights gradually being taken away from us why don't they just go the whole hog and just admit "we don't want you to breathe, drink, smoke, live a life... we just want you to be robotic law abiding non-existent robots"?

Wait till the ID cards arrived ! - then they'll know where you are all the time (and will be able to pop round and see you if you happen to "vote" wrongly !)

Did anyone watch the David Icke doco where he films near 10 Downing Street and 2 policeman come and ask him what he is up to ?.

Icke loses his cool and goes ballistic and demands what authority they have to question him..the plods back off quickly but it's a good demonstration of how intimidation works.

Anyone else would have taken it at face value and just being questioned by the police would have done the trick.
